I was just wondering how long it took to conceive your lo. My dd is 8 months and I actually got pregnant while on the pill. We want to try for another baby when she's about 16 months so they'll br 2-3 yrs. apart. I'm 33 now and I have this fear that the next baby may take a while since I'm in my 30's.

What kind of birth control were you taking when you became pregnant? And were you taking it like you were supposed to, regularly and not missing any pills?

I was taking the Ov con pills. There was a day I missed and I had to double up the next day. I know that is what did it, but in the past there had been many times where I missed one day. The timing must have been right on.

Topaz - I am 35 and this summer my DH and I decided to start trying for #1. I had both of us convinced that it would take 6 months to a year. I think I wanted to be prepared so that I wouldn't get disappointed every month when it didn't happen. To our surprise, it happened on the first try. I hope you have as much luck as we did!

Topaz - I am 33 and on my 30th bday I told DH if we were going to have kids we needed to get to it. I went off the pill in Aug. 2003 and am just now 6w 4d with our first. We had been talking about fertility testing, but lo & behold, here we are! Good luck!!

Hi Topaz...I'm 35 with 3 kids - each of those were conceived the first month of the pill - Kids are currently 11,6 and 2 - almost 3...Last August we decided to try for our 4th - and very smug we were too - picking when I would stop so as to conceive staight away and have a baby in the summer of 06...It was a HUGE shock to us not to conceive straight away and it wasn't until Dec/Jan that we 'finally' conceived...I know not long at all in the great scheme of things...Unfortunately we lost that baby in March but I fell pregnant again in June and baby is due in March 07...I do think things slow down as we get older but good luck when you try again!!

The stats are that up to 30, your change of getting preg in 1 year of ttc are 90%. Between 30-35, it only goes down to 80%. from 35-39, it's 40% and 40-42, it's 20%, but at that age the m/c rate can be as high as 50%. Those are averages. Obviously, if you have some problems, low ovarian reserve, male factor, etc, you will have problems. But up to 35 it looks pretty good in general.

I am 35 years old. When I was 32 I had a m/c, i was told NOT to try to get pg. while doing tests to try to deteremine why I had a m/c. 7 months later I was given the green light to try again and 3 weeks later found out I was pg. I now have a 2 year old dd and last year my husband had undergone chemo & radiation, dr.s said if we could have more children it wouldn' t be for a few years, well 6 months later I was pregnant. I'm 35 years old and 37 weeks along with my 3rd child. 2 of these children were conceived after the age of 30 and after dh went through his chemo & radiation so actually I think it may be easier to get pregnant, at least for me it was.

I had started taking a birth control pill in October last year. I didn't like the spotting every day so I stopped it after a month or so. I got pregnant in April or May. I'm due 2 Feb. I have a 2yr old and a 15 yr old. I am done after this one.
