'um' I guess that just shows what you know....if that is your opinion, then good for you, but have you done any serious research into b___stfeeding and it's benefits? There is nothing wrong with b___stfeeding past the age of one. I was b___stfed until I was 2 1/2 and I have never had a single ear infection, nor do I have allergies or asthma. Many toddlers enjoy nursing for comfort and for the closeness it provides. Also, it is more nutritionally sound than anything else you could possibly give a yound child--like cow's milk. Cow's milk IS b___stmilk--just from a cow. All it is is a subst_tute for human milk! Doesn't it make more sense to give a baby the milk that was intended for her/him?!

Sorry, mine copy of Mothering your Nursing Toddler is lent out. I don't remember the author. It could be that old, I bought it at a La Leche League meeting. Check out their site. I'm pretty sure you'll find it there.

To ... money can't buy everything. Breastfeeding is a case where free b___stmilk is the best choice. To have the att_tude that you can buy a better milk or that only poor people nurse their babies is so out of touch with reality. Step into 2006 will you. Join the millions of moms that know Breast is Best!

It's funny that people think it's somehow gross to b___stfeed a 2 year old. Breastfeeding is NOT s_xual! It's feeding. There's nothing wrong with nursing her at 2 if she still wants to. The milk is healthy for her. You should wean when she's ready to stop, or when you are. Also, you might want to consult your pediatrician to make sure she's getting enough solid foods, etc.

Thank you Angela in CA!! BF'ing is natural! We have b___sts for nursing primarily--not s_x! It's actually pretty sad that people think something so healthy is "gross."

wait.. so when there was no such thing as formula, and b___stfeeding was the only option, was it still gross back then? cause if so, we have a lot of perverted ancestors.. skittles, youre not addicted to the b___stfeeding, but more likely craving the closeness it gives you with your daughter. its normal for a mother to not want their kid to grow up, and even though shes 2 and im sure you know other kids who have been weaned over a year ago, it doesnt matter. what works for you two is what you should do. across the world its not abnormal for a kid to nurse until they are 4. granted, we do (well, most of us) live in the u.s. and there is a lot of controversy out there about b___stfeeding, but this is another step in human rights, i think. there was a time when it wasnt socially acceptable to see a womans ankles, but i dont see us all running around covering those up, so dont worry about trying to wean your kid before she wants to. it will cause more stress than anything. oh, and studies show that when you b___stfeed 7 years throughout your life, you have next to no chance of getting b___st cancer, so tell your husband you arent just helping your daughter, youre making sure that you are healthy too... good luck to you.

Ahhhh! If walking was old enough, my husband would have been weaned at 7 months! Maybe he was. His dad was laid off from work and stayed home with him and all he did was work with his legs and play with is feet all day long. I want to nurse as long as I'm comfortable, which will probably be well over a year, much to all my in-law's dismay! Thankfully, dh is facinated by the whole idea and "can't wait to watch the baby nurse" and is somehow really turned on by the fact that I'm leaky?? Sometimes I feel like he is more comfortable with my body than I am! ;) Even if my first is weaned by the time I have my second, I wouldn't be upset if baby #1 wanted to nurse with #2. I probably won't nurse till 3 but of course, that is my opinion right now! ;)
