HUGE Baby I Cannot Satisfy

my 6 week old son was born at 11 and-a-half lbs. and has, thus far, taken on a half a lb. a week. he wears 6 month old clothes and is still growing like a weed! he's in the top percentiles with respect to height and weight, any bigger and he'd be a giant! the last few days, i cannot seem to satisfy his hunger with br___tmilk alone and have resorted to supplementing him twice a day. i'm just wondering if anyone else has had a huge baby, and was able to br___tfeed exclusively?

CEM, my baby was 9 lb 8 oz and gained a pound in a week. I haven't had him checked in 2 weeks, so who knows what he has gained since then. he is a moose and is always hungry. Are you pumping when you give him a bottle. I would to keep you supply up.

My son was 8 13oz at birth and about 14 pounds at 8 weeks. I supplement with about 8 oz of formula a day because even if I pumped he'd still scream. He is now 3.5 months old and I notice he is now starting to eat a little less. Now that he's more aware of his surroundings he doesn't care to eat as much. He is now about 18 pounds and seems to be slowing down in the weight gain. Did you deliver a 11.5 pound baby v____ally? If so, I can't imagine what you went through. Just carrying a baby that large had to be rough. Don't fret, it'll get better and don't feel guilty using formula when you need to. Otherwise, you may get too frustrated and quit all together. Any b___st milk is better than none.

My son was 9.5lbs and I didn't supplement. I worried alot, but he was fine.

thank you ladies for your responses. we have cut down to supplementing him once a day, at night so he sleeps better. i've come to the conclusion that he's just a hungry boy and he's happy with a little extra. so as long as he's happy, so am i! he's already up to almost 14 lbs. and is in 6-7 month clothes!! KH - my husband gives him formula from a little cup, and i always b___stfeed him beforehand so i'm not actually replacing a feed with formula. C - yes, i did deliver him v____ally. i had 2 sons prior to him who were also very big ( but not 11.5 lbs!) so i think they sort of paved the way! believe it or not, it was the easier labour i've had. only 5 hours, and not nearly as painful as the first two. what about you? your son was not exactly small! :-)
