Having Problems Increasing Milk O

I have an almost 6 week old daughter. Her doc told us to suppliment with formula after I br___t feed her because she isn't getting enough milk from me. I have also started trying to pump a few times a day. I pump both at once with an electric pump, but only get about 2 ounces total. If I go overnight without feeding, I pump about 3 ounces in the morning. Not very impressive. I feed her about every 2.5-3 hours if she is awake and hungry. She doesn't get full until I give her additional formula. Also, when I do pump, all the milk I have comes out within the first few minutes at a very full flow. Nothing else comes out the rest of the pumping period. I was told that pumping would increase my milk, but its getting discouraging. I would like to get her off of formula and be all that she needs. Any suggestions? Anyone else having these issues?

I don't know if this will work for ya'll but your body is supposed to make more milk at night, so maybe if you can wake you're baby up every couple of hours and get her to eat that would help some. Just a thought.

I would go to kellymom.com. You can ask questions to experts on their forum. They also have a place to look for ways to increase your supply.

I am not an expert however I would recommend that you ladies not give your babies any formula. Not even to fill them up. You have to get them to nurse on you in order for you to make enough milk. It shouldn't take more than a day for your supply to increase if you let your baby nurse every time only at your b___st. Don't worry your baby will not starve. Kellymom.com is a great website for more info. Good luck ladies.

I was having a simalar problem, my daughter is 3 months old and she started needing 6 oz a feeding instead of the 4 oz i could pump. My dr put me on Reglan for two weeks, and I can now pump 8oz and in the morning after she sleeps all night I pump 9-10oz. Try asking your dr for it. I know there is some bad things on the internet about it (I researched it before taking it) but I have had NO problems, it worked miracles for me. Good Luck!!!
