ok so i better stop supplementing my baby's food with formula and just let her suffer on the little milk she gets from me? come on, be real. just because you're able to feed your baby from the b___st effectively doesn't mean all women can. you think i want to waste money on formula?

no I don't think you want to waste money on formula, and no I am not refering to women who are trying to b___stfeed, I am not addressing women who are supplementing b___stfeeding with formula, I am not addressing women who for specific reasons are not able to b___stfeed...I am strictly, and have all along in my "rant"only been refering to women who can, but CHOOSE NOT TO. Not for medical, safety, past surgery, or s_xual abuse etc...but simply..."I don't want to, why should I, formula is just as good" kind of choice...Breastfeeding your baby for one day, one week, one month, or however long you can is better than not doing it at all. Even if your baby gets only 8 ounces of human milk a day, it's better than none. No I am not saying that formula should be banned, nor have I said that because you b___stfeed or were b___stfed no other harm in life or health will come to you (give me a break). Years ago, people smoked like chimneys, even doctors, because we did not have the same information we have now about the harmful effects...When your mother had you, we had no where near the information we have available to us now...science changes our lives for the better AND for the worse on a daily basis. Yes, people still die from common and preventable diseases. Yes, fast food is harmful to us, and should not be a staple of our diets...yes, it is important to have clean water, clean air and safe food...duh...what on earth makes you think that because I so strongly advocate breatfeeding, that I don't advocate or acknowlege other common sense health priorities???and if you think that the American Academy of Pediatrics, The American Academy of Family Physicians, the World Health Organization, Unicef, and countless other state, national and international health care authorities are amending policy and practice based on 'opinion' you are clearly not reading the factual information they are providing, and the countless scientific studies available supporting the evidence. That's scientific evidence, not opinion. You said yourself in your own words...formula is a good 'second best'. Why would you choose what you know is second best for your babies, when you could choose the best, and for free no less? If you had the option to choose the best that was free or the second best which you had to pay for, would you really choose produce that was second best, meat? a car seat??? What you are saying in essence, is that you should have the right to freely choose to do want you want regardless of the possible outcome to your child. And you know what, you have that right. It's called the const_tution...it's just a crying shame that you feel such a strong need to exercise that right, even at the expense of your children. At this point in the dialogue...if we can even call it that, it wouldn't surprise me if you said that b___stfeeding babies shouldn't be fed in public in case it offends someone...whatever, I actually don't care about your opinions, critisms or absolutes anywhere near as much as you seem to care about mine. If you care to read over all of my previous posts in sequence...you will notice that at no time have I been, inflamatory, abrasive inappropriate or personally critical of any one individual. Perhaps you are not familiar with what a 'forum' is ? ie: a place for open discussion? I have been stating my personal opinion and I have been very clear about that from the start. You also, are stating what is YOUR personal opinion, one no less and no more valid than my own. You, however, have been doing it in a harsh, hyper-defensive and personally critical and alarmingly angry manner. If only one woman reads any of this and decides to research (beyond reading formula advertisments) her decision not to b___stfeed before making a choice, than I am happy. You, on the other hand don't sound like you are happy at all. What is a "crying shame" is not that people HAVE freedom of choice, so much as the freedom, it seems, is more valued than the choice itself. You are obviously very challenged by what I have said, for reasons that only you know...and you have a lot of anger in you....good luck with that.

Naomi - There are a lot worse things a person can do than bottlefeed their baby. Breast may be best, but you don't need to lose sleep worrying about all the little infants out there that are getting the bottle. With major social problems like poverty, pollution and war, this is a minor grievance. Let it go.

If you see a mother bottlefeeding her baby you should just grab her, whip out her b00b and stick it in the kids mouth. Since its your concern so bably just take the matter into your own hands.
