Question About Fenugreek

Hi, Jamie once suggested fenugreek (an herbal suppliment in case your milk starts drying up). I went out of town to a GNC to get it, and I read up on the information provided. Basically it said that fenugreek was popular with nursing women, and I remember it also said that it was a laxative, but NOWHERE did it say that it increases br___tmilk production. I decided not to get it because the last thing I need is another laxative, so my question is: How many of you have tried this supplement? Does it really inc your production, or could it be in your head? Thanks, I just want to make sure!

my mother and sisters all eat oatmeal if there milk starting drying up. just a serving a day and you will notice results immediately! and it is completely safe!!

My sister took Fenugreek after her lactation consultant recommended it. When I had difficulties nursing in the beginning my LC suggested it too. She said to take two at a time up to 4 X per day. I personally did not notice a laxative effect. I did start to smell like maple syrup as a result of taking it. It significantlly increased my supply. I would not recommend taking as much as I did in the beginning, maybe half and work your way up if you need it.

OR try Mother's Milk tea, but that gets more expensive because you drink 4 a day. They come 12 or 16 tea bags in a pack for about $5.
