Last night I woke up with a very sore left br___t. It was only sore on the left side. To have my son nurse was excruciating. I slept very little due to the pain. I then woke up and my left br___t had leaked right through my nursing pad, bra and shirt. After changing, I was so cold that I couldn't get warm. I took my temperature and it was 101. An hour later it was 102. I then started sweating like crazy and my temperature went away. My son nursed twice on the left side during this time. Now, several hours later, my left br___t has a red hot spot on the left side. Does anyone know what this is and what causes it? And, what should I do about it? Thanks!

It sounds like you have might have mast_tis. It is an infection induced by engorgement. I got it when my son was 3 weeks old. Call a doctor because it can become very serious. Continue to nurse him, especially from that b___st - don't worry it won't effect your milk. Your doctor will prescribe antibiotics to get rid of the infection before it spreads, they will be safe for the baby.

did you get ahold of anyone? i just got over mast_tus myself, oh it's nasty! pump and nurse on the infected b___st as often as possible. i'm wishing you a speedy recovery.

Kristen, so sorry yoou are not feeling well. I had mast_tis while nursing both my children. It is so painful. I hope you can get to your dr. soon. My dr took me as soon as I called so we could nip it in the bud. That was the second time. The first time I thought it would just go away, It was a mistake to wait. I learned my lesson! I hope you feel better soon!
