South Beach Diet

I have a 6 mo old, and am trying to lose the weight from my pregnancy (50 lbs). I am so interested in the South Beach diet and am wondering if it's safe while I'm br___tfeeding? Mostly I wonder because the first two weeks are quite strict (in regards to dairy, like milk, which I would still drink anyway?) If it's not a good idea, anyone have any good ideas?

I also gained about 50 pounds, my son is also 6 months. I have about 10 more to go to be at pre preg weight. I would like to lose 30 more. I read you shouldn't do the first phase because it has too many restrictions. My doctor said to just start walking with my son and that should work.

you could try weight watchers...i know a few women who did lose weight and kept it off. also, when you are nursing they do give you 10 extra points as they take that into consideration.

I lost 100 pounds in 10 months on Weight Watchers. I did the program & walked 45 min a day. It was pretty easy!

I think the first phase of South Beach is like Atkins. Atkins puts your body in ketosis, which bruns the fat quickly. THe problem is that ketones are produced, which are toxic. They usually come out in your urine (one of the reasons you have to drink so much water is to get them out of you), but if you are bf, they come out in the milk, too. They are toxic and dangerous for baby. La Leche's website has info on this.
