Ladies, I'll be due in Jan. I have a few questions that I hope to get some answers to. How long did you br___tfeed your baby before starting using a bottle? When did you completely switch from br___t to bottle? Also, for those of you who have used Avent bottles, is it true that Avent bottles leak constantly? In your opinion, which baby bottle is the best?
Thanks! I really appreciate it!

I STARTED OUR DAUGHTER ON A BOTTLE 1XPER NIGHT AT 4 WEEKS AND SHE IS NOW ALMOST 7 WEEKS AND DOESNT ALWAYS TAKE IT RIGHT AWAY. BUT WE STILL MAKE IT AN EVERY NIGHT ROUTINE. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOMEONE ELSE GIVE THE BOTTLE. AND THE ADVENT ONLY LEEK IF YOU USE THE WRONG NIPPLE..PEOPLE DONT READ TO WELL(INCLUDING ME) AND IF YOU DO YOUR READING THE BLUE NIPPLES ARE ONLY FOR THE DISPOSIBLE DROP-INS AND THE WHITE NIPPLES ARE FOR THE HARD BOTTLES. IF YOU SWITCH THEM UP THEY DONT SEAL CORRECTALLY AND ULTIMATELY THEY LEAK. GOOD LUCK. AND YES I LIKE THE ADVENT IT MAKES THE BABY OPEN WIDER LIKE BIENG ON THE BOOB'

My son hated the avent bottles. The nipples are too hard and he doesn't latch well at all to them. I really like playtex. The nipples are a lot more flexable more like the b___st.

I have tried them all and my baby prefers Playtex. I use the Platex nurser system. When I was in the hospital they gave him bottles of formula which made nursing difficult on both of us. So when I got home I did not want to give him any bottles until he knew how to b___stfeed, I think I waited about 6 weeks before giving him a bottle again. Then it was very rare that he would get one - only if I was going to the grocery store or out to dinner or something I would pack one just in case he got hungry. Now it is even more rare that he gets one because he does not eat as often so I can make it back home before he is hungry.

I have Avent and Playtex. Myself, husband and babysitter (who b___stfed her children) all agree that the Playtex nipple works better for b___stfed babies. However, my son will take either. I like the Avent for transporting milk because the soft liner can sometimes colapse while in a diaper bag. I would suggest buying a starter set for the bottles you want to try. Don't go out and buy a ton of bottles until you are sure which one your baby will like. My son was jaundice and not gaining weight (my milk did not come in until day five) so I gave him a bottle at 4 days old. After that I only gave him a bottle when we were out in public (which wasn't very often). After 6 weeks I went back to work so I started pumping at work and now my son nurses 2-3 times per day, gets expressed milk, and then about 4 oz. formula. Just know that the first month of feeding is going to be really hard if you b___stfeed. It gets so much better, trust me.

I agree with the others. My daughter prefers the playtex nurser system with the bags. When you warm them (set the bottle in hot/warm water), they heat up a lot faster since the milk is only in a bag rather than in a bottle. That is what I found. I have tried the avent bottles/nipples, but I don't think that my daughter likes them because the nipples are harder than the playtex ones. Also, I have found that she likes the larger sized nipples rather than the smaller ones--I think because they resemble the b___st more. Like someone else said, don't go out and buy a ton of one kind of bottles and nipples...who knows what your little one will prefer.
