Just out of curiosity-did you find La Leche League (meetings and/or support) to be helpful or harmful to your br___tfeeding experience?

both. the la leche league lactation consultants at my hospital were pitiful and didn't help a bit. they didn't even bother to tell or warn me not to give my daughter formula her first few early days in the hospital when my milk hadn't yet come in and i thought she was hungry. But since then they have been helpful - i don't go to meetings but i have contacted them several times about issues. mostly though, i learned what i now know through reading other sources like kellymom and such.

I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with La Leche League. I don't know what I would have done. I called my local leader and she spent half an hour on the phone with me. I've been to 2 meetings so far and have learned so much. You really should go.

La Leche League saved me from failure. I was desperate for help and that is where I got it. It's great to know they are there whenever I need information or just encouragement. It makes me feel normal, like I'm not alone.

A relative is a LLL consultant and w/o her I would have never stuck with it.

I just wanted to hear from others. I received excellent individual support from a La Leche Leader with my first baby. Then I went to a meeting and it was really out there and the leader wanted to stick only to the planned topic, while most of us were first timers with LOTS of questions. That experience turned me off of the meetings, but overall my experience with their knowledge was good.
