Go to the doctor and get the appropriate medicine. There is a prescription liquid, which you apply with a q-tip, for both you and the baby.

My son has a white tongue and I thought he had thrush. His doctor said that as long as he's eating and gaining weight to not worry about it. I guess it's really hard to treat? I use a nipple shield because my son never could latch on properly (I know this isn't recommended). That's probably why I've never gotten it on my nipples. Go to the doctor if you are concerned. They will try medicine if they think it is an issue.

I had this with my 2nd, it is extremely difficult to get rid of. And, the pain is torture! The first thing your doctor will give you is Nystatin ointment for your nipples and liquid Nystatin for your baby's mouth. This will work, but you have to keep doing it for at least 2 weeks after the yeast has cleared up. It is a pain and there is a good chance that the yeast will come back. Yeast love dark, warm, moist places so it is very important that your b___sts stay dry at all times when not b___stfeeding. I would say to ask your doctor to put you and your baby on Diflucan. This IS safe for the baby and will knock the yeast out quickly. Good Luck.
