Hi Ladies, I'm first a time mom-to-be and 7 months pregnant. I would like to ask those of you who have done br___tfeeding. Is it true that you should start to tough your nipples before you actually br___tfeeding the baby? If it is so. How do you do it?
Thanks!

I guess you could...I didn't. I would say...rub them gently with a wash cloth, maybe...maybe pull on them a bit to used to that feeling.

i did that with my now two year old and i also did with my new baby who is a month old. I didn't have sore or cracked or bleeding nipples at all like alot of people do so i would say that yes it did work for me. i would just rub them with the towel after i got out of the shower.

I did a little with baby #1 and had tons of nipple pain while nursing and didn't with #2 (dr told me they don't recommend it anymore) and had very little pain. I think nipple pain while nursing has a lot more to do with your baby's latch. Just use a lactation expert to mke sure you have a good latch and use Lansinoh when you do have any pain. Hope this helps!

i didn't toughen my nipples...that's not necessary. my son is now 9.5 weeks and has been b___stfed exclusively since birth. i have never had any soreness, bleeding, cracking...no pain whatsoever...i just make sure he is latched on properly and all is well...the entire areola or most of it needs to be in the baby's mouth...just remember that, you will not have pain in the nipples.
