I had my son almost six weeks ago. My scar has a few areas where there is some discharge. I am not sure if it is an ingrown hair (I am not a hairy person - just normal) or if it is infected? I put triple antibiotic ointment on it and wash it with alcohol. Should it be totally healed by now? How long should it take to totally heal up?

I think a little draniage is normal, but you could ask your dr,just to make sure it is not getting infected.

my god ur question rings so bells lol.
i was hospitalized for 4 days due to infection and the doctor told me the worst thing u can do is clean the wound with alcohol or antiseptic wipes as the kill the healing cells and cause more harm then good, ur wound should not be oozing or even tender at this stage if it is then u more then likely have an infection and should treat it right away good luck and i hope i helped

I just went to the doctor and he said my incision wasn't infected but just blistering. I was glued together instead of staples and stiches. My scar is just a thin red line and looks great except for these few little bumps like pimples. I have no lumps on it like I have seen on other people so I do recommend the glue.

what does "blistering" mean? How is that different than infection. Glad to hear yours isn't infected. thanks for the info.

Blistering is like when you have an ingrown hair or sort of like when you shave and get a bump. When I was glued back together, the hair follicles start growing in different directions than they used to so it makes this little pimple like thing on my scar. The doctor said the hair follicle dies and goes away. Serious though, my scar looks like someone took a fine red pen and drew a line 4 inches long and it is totally smooth from the glue.
