Anyone been put to sleep for a scheduled c-section? If so was it safe for the baby? Did the baby have any problems from it?

I didn't have a scheduled c-section but did have one after I could not deliver v____ally. My epidural wasn't working so they had to put me under general. My baby came out with an apgar score of 9 and was fine. There can be some fetal depression with this as the drugs will cross the placenta. However, if you have a good surgeon who can get in quick this should minimize the effects of this.

general anesthesia is more dangerous for both mother and baby. It is used only when necessary (or it's supposed to be). My first was general after 1 1/2 days of labor and while I didn't mind it, my baby was sick to his stomach often, had a 1 min apgar of 7 and nauseous from the general. He's fine and even though this has no connection to general I presume, of my 4 c/s kids, he is the only one with horrendous migraines....hmmm...I personally, from my medical training, would not put my baby under general with me unless it was a severe, emergent situation. Good luck.
