Once the source of anesthesia has been removed,it's major effects wear off in 5-15 minutes. But you will feel groggy for hours after surgery. But you can still be with your baby.Demerol and percucet is usually given for pain, also antibiodics are given through your iv to prevent a uterine infection. You stay anywhere from 3-5 days in the hospital before you get to go home. But they want you up walking around before you can go home.

I had a scheduled cs on a Mon went home on Wed, out shopping on Fri, but everyone is diffeent. I was given Morphine first 24 hrs, then percocet and ibuprohen every 4 hrs. They key is to get up and walk around when they let you. It will hurt like crazy, but you'll recover faster. I have another cs scheduled for June 26 due to a displaced pelvis and my Dr. said I will recover from cs before I recover from that. Good luck everyone.
