Debbie, what do you mean same thing ? I have swelling on the right side too. so how do you know if you are opened up inside im not onthe outside? And another thing when do you stop bleeding . and how do you know that the bleeding is from the delivery and not from the inside stiches opening? i only had the c-section july 9th so i know it still earlie to worry i hope. thanks

I only bled for maybe 2 weeks spotting if that. I never knew if i opened up the st_tches on the inside that is why i am worried now. I saw my ob this past wed but she didnt say any thing about it so I figured the swelling was normal, but now that im experiencing pain I am thinking other wise. I keep trying to come up with excuses for the problem, but even my husband a paramedic cannot think of the reason why its only happening on my one side...I would just call your ob and talk to the nurse in there office. That is what im going to do unless I run into mine at the hospital while visiting my little one..

i had a c sec two weeks ago..in the hospital i had an infection they gave me antibiotics and couple days later sent me home... went to the docs today and i have a infection....she says i should take the antibiotics and if that does not work they have to reopen me up and clean it out :( not looking forward to that.. hopefully these antibiotics work (keflax)...

I had an emergengy c-section and baby July 20th, 2005 recovery has been doing pretty well. I had stiches inside and staples outside the staples were removed before I left the hospital, the nurse applied some strong tape over the area were the staples were and I have been doing fine no infections a lot of pain but thats a c section recovery. i think you need to see your doctor there should be no openings and especially no infection if you take care of yourself properly! pain is normal thats recovery but infection and openings is not normal and should be looked at asap.

Deborah, thank you for your response. I had actually the same thing except i had a blood clot in the hospital so the had to remove that and kept the staples in long thats all . but with all the comments about holes and infections i was beginging to wounder . I had a lot of pain too but after 3 weeks no more pain or bleeding . so good luck .

This is the exact same thing that happened to me. My doctor finally put me on an antibiotic and put steristrips on my wound. I've been working on healing for 6 weeks as well. How did yours turn out?

Hi to you all. I feel so bad for all of you that have had staples and so much trouble. I just had my 4th C- section all with my fabulous Doc who has been an OB since the 60's. He does everything the good ol fashioned way sewing me up every time. He is the best in our area and I have never had any problems or infections. Even after my first which I pushed for 2 1/2 hours and finally had a c- sec, then post delivery toxemia. In my humble and uneducated opinion I would look for an experienced doctor that takes the time to do things right! Take care !

Can I just ask a question? I have been told I will need a c-section and I am TERRIFIED! How long will the incision be? I have heard that it ranges between 4-8 inches! 8 inches gows from hip to hip on me. Also, is the incision above or below the pubic hair line? Some people have said that there's is above and others have said that it is well below and invisible because it is covered when the hair grows back. Please help calm my nerves a little.

Hello all, its been 12 weeks since I had my C-Section and my wound just healed and closed completly. I was 4 cm deep, 6 inches wide and I had antibiotics sent home with me and a visting nurse who came everyday then I had appointements with OB my Doctor who did my C-Section and the wound clinic so I was being seen by 3 Dr's every week. I thought I would never heal. But I am free to wash and clean like before my pregnancy. For the person above me my incision is under my pubic bone in my hair so you can't see it when the hair grows back. But yeah these are some scary sitew but I am here to tell you I thought it was crazy to go home with an open incision and a wound it was. But it took me 12 weeks (3 months) to heal and close completly. I am done with this yeah yeah.

Karen, Well the scar will only be 6 inches and they do it so low you cant even tell when your wearing a bikini....so dont fret. They make the incision different places for different reasons.....more then likely it will be right above and yea the hair grows back and it itches........no i didnt have a bad time with the staples my doctor was wonderful and i hope everything turns out alright for you

Karen - August 15

Thanks guys for that! I can just imagine having a scar and it not even being covered by my hair. 6 inches on me is still long. Why would they do a longer incision on some women and not on others?

Tamika - August 15

I have no idea why some have smaller scars than others. But the only thing I can think of is how big the baby is, maybe where the baby is laying, if they need to do other things beside deliver a baby, i.e. tubal ligation, check tumors, ulcers, cancer etc. They probably just need extra room than to go in there and say darn I need to make a larger cut then they gotta come out and cut it longer, they are just better off doing what they feel is best for the patient.

Karen - August 15

Jamie, when you say "right above", does that mean that even when the hair grows back the scar will be seen? I can understand why they shave you, but ideally, I would like the scar to be completely covered! Not vain or anything, just have soooo many scars already that getting another one is making me lose sleep! If it will be completely covered, then I won't bother. Sorry to be a pain!

Jodie - August 15

karen, Dont worry its not as bad as it sounds when reading some of these storys. I had a C-section on July 9th and had my tubes tied too and still I dont think it is even 6 inches. I have a small body frame and its not that long on me. They didnt shave me though. Its right above the hair line. but like someone else said when you have on a binki you cant see it. I had stiches on the inside and staples on the outside. and all went well. I dont know why some of these women had openings. I didnt. I only had a blood clot and they fixed it in the hospital the next day. But i will tell you one thing when they tell you not to lift anything heavier than the baby DONT you will pay for it later. Take your time. Good luck and dont wory to much I did and it wasnt half as bad as I figured it would be.

Hello to everyone, karen especially you don't worry.. I had posted my first post on here may 7th about my last c section, it was not a good experience, I had a c section july 1st with my second child..All was fabulous, my doctors were extroadinary a blessing, you can even tell that they cut me, my hair grows over my incesion. My baby is 6 weeks old I am doing wonderful and healed great this time but doctors took all precautions. I am great ful they sewed all my muscles back together this time, they said most women dont get their stomaches back because docs dont take the time to sew the muscles but they did, i had a bladder flab that was loose from first pregnancy they fixed that and i had a tubal ligation, and you still can't see my scar.
