My son was delivered by emergency c-section a little over 3 months ago. I have healed nicely, but have noticed that an area in the middle, about an inch wide running vertically between my navel & the actual incision scar is completely numb. Is this just a normal side effect? And does feeling ever come back? Thanks.

To add: I would ask a doc about this, but I don't have medical insurance anymore... only had pregnancy Medicaid while that lasted.

When I had my 1st c-section, I was numb for almost a year and then feeling came back. You have to consider that they cut through the muscle, ligaments, and everthing in between so it takes awhile for everything to grow back.

My feeling came back within a few months after each of my three sections. I fell last December, though, and really messed up my knee and now I have a weird patch that is numb, but when I run my finger over it I feel it on the side of my knee where I'm not even touching!

Thanks ladies. It's comforting to know this. :)

My feeling still hasn't come back after 8 years. But it really doesn't bother me. I've gotten used to it. Sometimes the spot stays because of a cut nerve.

Yes, that is normal. I still have numbness. I have had 3 sections my last being 3 yrs ago and am still numb in that exact area you described.

I have the same numbness. Mine has never gone away. If it makes you feel better, having some numbness seemed to make the recovery from my second c-section a lot less painful.
