my boyfriend and I have a VERY healthy s_x life, I am having my planned c-section July 10th and am wondering how long we will have to wait to have s_x, also how long before i can exercise and get back to a normal routine? Last question when do you start taking the pill again, when you stop bleeding? I know i must sound silly but this is our first baby...

HI THIS IS NOT A SILLY QUESTION YOU HAVE TO WAIT 6 TO 8 WEEKS BEFORE YOU HAVE s_x AGAIN GIVE YOUR BODY TIME TO HEAL. WHEN YOU GO TO YOUR 6 WEEK APPOINTMENT YOU CAN START TAKING SOME TYPE OF BIRTH CONTROL, IT SOMETIME TAKE 3WKS OR MORE BEFORE YOU STOP BLEEDING I KNOE THAT SUCKS I AHD MY FIRST BABY WHEN I WAS 18 IN 2003 IM 21 NOW I JUST HAD ANOTHER BABY JAN. 3, 2006 SO DONT BE SCARED IT GONNA BE OK

Sometimes they will give you birth control when they leave the hospital (they did after my first c-section). If you are going to b___stfeed, make sure the pill they give you is compatible with that. As for s_x, and exercise...the hospital will tell you six weeks. You can start walking for exercise as soon as you feel able...even in the hospital. The sooner you're up and walking around, the quicker you will recover. About s_x...I didn't wait the six weeks after either of my c-sections. I never dialated at all so I figured I didn't have as much healing to do as some people would...but s_x wasn't that great until about a month after the c-section. If you do decide to do it, make sure he's not pressing his stomach on your incision (the positions you will end up using during late pregnancy are also good for s_x after a c-section). Other useful things to know in general: make sure you have a supply of really absorbant maxi-pads waiting at home...you will probably be bleeding a lot. If the incision seems to stay damp and sticky, keep a maxi-pad against it because a wet incision is more likely to get infected. If you can get a relative to help you for a week or two once you're home from the hospital, it will make things a lot easier (or get your boyfriend to take a couple weeks off work, even though they're not as helpful as a mom or sister ).

Leslie and Jbear thank you both for you advice. Jbear I've heard about using maxipads on the incision site before so i will make sure to stock up!! I'm hoping to get back to normal and be able to enjoy the summer with my baby, and my boyfriend. your postive feedback is awesome, thank you both
