i'm having my baby at 36 weeks because the umbical cord is really close to my cervix and the doctor doesn't want me to go into labor because the baby could bleed out and be born stillborn. the doctor has scheduled an ultrasound for next week to determine how much the baby weighs (at 32 weeks). i didn't ask any questions about this cause i thought it was normal. but now i'm afraid that the doctor thinks my baby is measuring small (the nurse didn't tell me my stomach measurement last time i went in). at 32 weeks i'm also having steriods shots to help develop the baby's lungs. has anyone else had to have an ultrasound done to get the weight of the baby 4 weeks before a scheduled c-section?

I wouldnt worry to much. They are just trying to make sure the baby is well enough before he will deliver you. If you have any concerns, dont hesitate to ask your doctor. That is what you are paying them for. Good luck!

i think they are probably doing that to be sure the baby is measuring where it should be...i would not worry...they gave me an ultrasound 2 days before my c section to see the weight

i had 2 csections one in 97 the other 3weeks ago and for both i had ultrasounds through out my pregnancy to determin weight and they just do it to make sure your baby is at weight and size to be dilivered early i am greatfull i had the ultrasounds my first baby weighed in at 9lbs 9 oz and if it wasnt for the ultrasound i would have never known either way i had induced labor for 10 hours no progress and had a emergency c/s but i explaained my first daughters weight to my doctor now and she check my babys weight constantly and when she reached 9 lbs she said she prefered me to get a c/s again due to my daughters large size ahain i wouldnt have known if it wasnt for the ultrasound! but this time i went in to labor on my own unlike the first time but if it wasnt for the u/s i wouldnt have known what size baby to expect but i also had her by c/s but by my doctors choice and she weighed in @ 8lbs 12oz she was big and when they dilivered her they said they were happy to have gave me the c/s because they could not see me diliver a baby her size, well enough of my rambiling the u/s is safe and worth it! ull know what to expect and theyll know what care and how to care for you ! so good luck!

I had an ultrasound in the hospital before they induced my labor at 36 weeks. It was off by three pounds, but it was a normal thing for them to do.
