Excessive Thirst

Okay so I get thirsty a lot and of course I drink lots of water and juice and stuff. But at night I get incredibly thirsty for water. I'll wake up 3 or 4 times a night feeling so thirsty, and just a sip wont do, its like my body is demanding lots of water. And so of course I have to pee so much at night. The past few nights I had to get up and pee 4 times, and then get a big glass of water. Whats up with that? Anybody else get that? Its not like I'm dehydrated during the day. Any advice would be good. I've tried ignoring it, or just taking a few sips and going back to bed, but hasnt helped curve the urge. I just want a good nights sleep again!

I am having the same problems lately. I am always thirsty and sometimes wake up as if I've dranken 4 gallons of beer or something. Do you get night sweats? That can maybe cause a little dehydration at night, if you say your fine during the day.

I've had the same thing going on too. Some days I'm just normal thirsty and other days it's like I can't get enough water. Maybe you are eating salty food for dinner? That's the only thing that I can think of why you might be thirstier at night.

I am thirsty at night too, but I think it may have to do something with the central heating - it tends to make the air very dry. Try putting a humidifier in your bedroom and see if that helps.

Pregnancy makes you thirsty, and for good reason. Dehydration causes uterine contractions. Certain foods will increase your thirst, especially salty foods and beverages that contain a lot of sugar. If you crave water your best course of action is to drink. Also, some have found that once your amniotic fluid starts replacing itself your need for hydration increases. It's not likely that you could drink enough water to hurt yourself but you could certainly drink little enough to hurt your pregnancy. Hope that helps!
