I am going to ask my doctor at my next appt...but basically im just worried..ive always been really small no more than 130 pounds im 5 '10 ive never cared what i eat i try to eat healthy but ive certainly never cared about dieting or anything like that...i already have a son and when i was pregnant with him i gained about 30 pounds i think overall...this time, i am only about 9 weeks right now, I have not had morning sickness at all although I have felt nauseous througout most of all the days so far...but I have been eating NONSTOP. It is like I am never full, even when I am, and I have gained an enormous amount of weight, from 130 I am probably at about 145 right now I'm guessing and I'm not sure why this is? I'm not worried about being 'fat' or anything like that, and I do know that sometimes your metabolism slows down when you're pregnant, but should I be worried and stop eating so much lol??? Any responses would be well appreciated. Thanks.

I was the same way early on, and I also gained weight rather rapidly. I started the pregnancy at 126 pounds and am currently 34 weeks and 175 pounds. I found out at 28 weeks that I have gestational diabetes. One doctor I see says the weight gain probably caused the diabetes, while another doc says the diabetes probably caused the weight gain. The placenta affects the amount of insulin the body produces, so some pregnant women just can't control glucose levels like they did before they were PG. I'm telling you this because I'm thinking that you should try to eat as much protein from as many sources as possible throughout the day. I now eat almonds, nuts, eggs, chicken, cheese, avocados, etc.... and it seems to tie me over quite well. Eating this way has actually slowed my weight gain considerably. I've maintained 174 pounds for over a month, and the baby continued to grow on track, so while I lost a few pounds, the baby gained. I'm in no way saying you have gestational diabetes, nor am I saying you are at risk for it, I just wanted to share how different foods have affected my weight during pregnancy since we both started this pregnancy quite thin. Good luck!
