Birth Control And Spotting

Hey, allright. I am on my first month of taking Diane 35 birth control, I've taken it before but only for 2 months. (I know bad move).. But I've had s_x since I opened the package.. I am pill 18 or something and I haven't been able to take it at the same time everyday. I decided to take it at 930 when I got home from work but recently I've been forgetting and not taking it exactly that time. There has been a few nights when I had taken it at 4 am.
Lately I have been noticing light spotting which vaires in color, sometimes it's brown, pink or orange.. I also have been having mild cramps..
I don't understand.. is this another one of those side effects birth control can have on some one??
Someone please give me a little bit of advice.. I'm freakin' out here..

Now I'm done this package of Birth control and waiting for my period. I thought I got it today.. but it was a faint blood and very little. Also dark brown discharge. I don't understand.
