Hello everyone.. I am miserable and need some suggestions. I am currently 31 weeks pg and no major problems so far EXCEPT this horrible heartburn. It wakes me up at night and drives me crazy during the day. I can get it from drinking water or eating spicy foods. I am carrying a baby girl and she is really high, right under my ribs. I eat Tums and drink lots of water but nothing is helping. Any suggestions on what to try. I sleep sitting up on the couch or propped up in bed. Please give me some advice on what has helped some of you..

I'm 31 weeks as well, and have baby girls right under my ribs, I know how you feel the heartburn is horrid, this is my 3rd pregnancy and have never had it this bad before. What works for me is drinking a small gla__s of mile then taking some tums, it usually wards off the heartburn for a few hours at least, of course that'll inly work if you can drink milk. Actually I hate milk, and never drink it, but for some reason I crave it when I'm pregnant lol, GL to you!

Hi Crystal83, thanks, I will try milk.. I do love it. When are you due?.. I am having a c-section on Aug. 17. First baby girl was breech so I had a c-sec with her. What are you naming her? We have chosen Sydney Michelle. How old are you? I am 37 and refused all testing so sometimes I worry if things are OK. No problems to make me think otherwise, but it is still in the back of my mind. Best of luck to you in the next few weeks.. may you sleep well, may your feet not swell and may you get rid of this horrible heartburn soon.. I look forward to hearing from you. Cissy

Cissy- I have the same problem, my doctor advised me to take zantac. It works for about 6-8 hours for me. Enough to get a decent night sleep. Good luck

I know how you feel..I am 35wks with my 6th baby and heartburn has been horrible since very early on. Milk helps a lot. I never got much relief from Tums. You can also try Mylanta, and Zantac 150. Zantac 150 works EXCELLENT! If those things don't help you should ask your dr. to prescribe Prilosec to you. But absolutely try the Zantac 150. A lady told me once to eat an apple a day and it helps with the heartburn as well. GL!!!

Prilosec OTC changed my life! It is awesome and you don't need a prescription for it. I wish I had discovered it earlier. My doctor said it was fine to take, too. I take it when I get up, and it is effective for the whole day. I'd really suggest giving it a try if your doctor says it's ok.

I was popping Tums like they were candy! Worked for a bit, then just didn't do a thing. My doctor told me I could take the OTC Zantac and that was a blessing!!

Cissy, I'm so glad that it helped you. I sounded like a commercial raving on about it, but seriously... it made a BIG difference for me, too. Now if I could find a pill that makes me not go to the bathroom every 18 minutes, I'd cry tears of joy.
