I am 3 months pregnant and I believe I have sciatica which is the pain that runs from anywhere in the upper back down through your leg (usually only on one side). It can cause a tingling sensation and shooting pains. Tonight out of no where my left buttock started hurting but then it got so bad I woke from sleep and cried because I can barely move my leg without excruciating pain.
Has anyone experienced this? What did you do to relieve the pain?

I had this, but it was right after I had my baby in December. I was so scared at the thought of sugery, but it mosly has gone away on it's own. I just tried stretching out my back, I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but it's slowly feeling better. I have to go back to my dr, but as of right now, I don't think I will end up needing the surgery. I'm sorry you feel so aweful...it's the worst pain...hurt more than my c-section recovery. And for the pain I was taking motrin, but since you are prego I don't know...maybe some tylenol...I doubt it will help too much though. Good luck!

this happens a lot in pregnancy due to the hormone "relaxin" which causes your joints to relax and sometimes pop out of place.......this is a really annoying, but normal thing in pregnancy. Try going to a chiropractor, that helps out a lot!! Otherwise all you can really do is take tylenol for the pain.

I've had sciatic nerve pain for 2-3 weeks now and I'm 7w 3d. The pain is not constant or severe, so I really haven't done anything to relieve it.

I am now in my 17th week and during week 7 through 10 I was having the unbearable pain on my left b___tocks and on both hips, paint that felt like it was coming from inside the bone! I figured it was Round-Ligament pain since that's what all the books say so I figured it was normal. I relieved it by walking 30 minutes every evening on a treadmil at the gym and by adding feather pillows to my lower body. I place one behind my lower back, one in front, one between my knees longways so that it supports my calves too, and on really bad nights on underneath my waist to help support the hollow in my spine. I know it sounds like a lot of pillows! But feather pillows really squish down and aren't as bulky, offering only the support you need. We also got a new microfoam mattress, sounds expensive, but we bought ours at Costco for 1/4 of the price of the name brand and it's the same thing! My in-laws have the name brand and they laid on our mattress and said they wished they had known about the Costco mattress. I wouldn't want to be sleeping on a regular mattress through this nightly battle. It did go away, just find what works for you.

i have had it from early on like you. I am 24 wks and just tonight I got up and could barely walk. It does come and go..but as I understand its part of the deal. Some suggest a chiropracter..most insurance will cover it.

I had really bad sciatica pain, mine didn't really start until 24 weeks but I found ma__sage and chiropractic care really helped, especially when at 32 weeks my baby was breech, it sorted that out too. I am lucky though my insurance covered it all.

i have the same thing, i am 23 weeks and its been going on for a few weeks now, i dont really know that there is much you can do about it, for me it is tolerable most of the time so i just deal with it but i have had it a few times before also and normally it would just fade away on its own
