I know that a bit of adema is expected during pregnancy, especially during the 3rd trimester (I'm 29 weeks). My ankles are swollen, however they are also sore right around the ankle joint. Sore as in, sore to the touch. Is this normal?

I just got back from my 30 week appointment today. I was told that I have pitting edema (which, as mrs. rochin said above, is when you can push in on your skin, usually your shin, and it leave and indent). I was told to use fresh lemon in my water, and increase my water consumption to at least 80 oz per day. Also, you can get a list of foods that naturally reduce the water retention in your body (asparagus, brussels sprouts, pineapple, beets...just to name a few). Maybe if you could get the swelling down a bit, the joints would not be so sore...just a thought...
