I am approx 6 weeks also and had a slight brown staining today in underwear when I went to bathroom. THANK YOU for these posts...I am hoping it is nothing but I will keep you all posted. i haven't called the doctor yet but plan too if it happens again. I have no cramping, just the usual backaches...I was having sore b___sts but now I am wondering if it went away. Does anyone else think that the soreb___st thing goes and comes? Am I the only one who is having that symptom?

I am 6+wks pregnant and started having light cramps and brown spotting this evening - haven't called the doctor yet but intend to first thing in the morning(hence finding my way to this site at 1am)i'm seriously hoping it's nothing to worry about. Reading the posts, i didn't realize it was such a common situation - why doesn't anybody tell you this? I have an 8 year old and this is the first time i've heard of this which is why i'm kind of freaking out and praying like hell i'm not having a miscarriage.

If you are spotting you may want to call your dr. i called my dr. and she fit me in immediately for an ultrasound. I stopped spotting and we saw a "sac"--she didn't go into much details. The sac was the size of 5wks (I thought I was 6 but ovulated late) and we are doing bloodwork to check HCG levels. I will keep you posted. They didn't seem alarmed by the bleeding but I was glad she saw me right away!!

Mythili--are you still spotting? Did you get it checked out. I have to go again tomorrow for the second blood test for my HCG levels. I won't know the results until Monday. The suspense is killing me but I think it is good to at least "know" what you are dealing with, otherwise the imagination runs wild.

I posted this in another area, but I think this is probably the best place to post it. Here is what I wrote earlier this week: I had some spotting the last two weeks (weeks 6 and 7) and I went to the doc to have it checked out. They screened me for blood clotting disorders, and I guess I have one (hyperhomocysticemia/MTHFR mutation.) They put me on baby aspirin and extra folic acid. Apparently, women with clotting disorders have a higher risk of m/c and usually don't know they have one until they miscarry. The treatment is really simple and the doctor said that with the treatment, I am at no higher risk for miscarriage than someone who doesn't have the disorder, but they will monitor me for blood clots later inthe pregnancy. She said they check for this on all their patients with spotting early in the pregnancy. If any of you are spotting, you should ask your doctor to check you for blood clotting disorders, as the treatment is pretty simple. Hope this helps some of you.

Mythili I am 7ks and 3 days today!! Nice to know someone with the same date!! Anyhow, regarding brown mucus. I have had this in 2 seperate occasions during week 4 and week 6 of pregnancy. It only happened after a bowel movement with me - and it hasnt happened since. Sorry if its too much information but you never know when someone out there has gone throught the same thing - since then my bowel movement has not been as "strained" and I have had no more light brown discharge. I was not too worried because I have been told it is concerning when there is "fresh" blood and brown means it is old blood and it is relatively safe. Hope this helps!

I posted last night when i was having cramping and brown spotting - unfortunately an ultrasound today revealed that i had indeed suffered a miscarriage - sad, confusing and disheartening but there seem to be enough ladies on here making it through with the bleeding and cramping - good luck to all

Hi everyone. I hope this will help all of you. With my second and third pregnancies, I spotted every single day from weeks six through 10. I was mostly brown, but on some days it was definitely red. I had many ultrasounds, and all showed a beating heart in both situations. It was definitely worse after a BM. My anxiety was so high every time I had to go!) Because I've had 6 miscarriages, you can imagine my worry. What was different in these pregnancies was seeing the the heartbeats. I just wished I could sleep for the first trimester because each day of waiting was so hard. However, despite four straight weeks of spotting/bleeding, we have a daughter and son. i really do appreciate your condolences - today is certainly a better today than yesterday - i'm a firm believer in a time and a purpose for everything even when life can seem somewhat unjust and its workings appear slightly chaotic or senseless to us - nature/life/god/the universe - call it what you will - has its design and i find immense comfort in recognizing that and it helps me to cope when things don't go according to 'my' plans. My wonderful husband and i will try again soon and perhaps things will be different this time - i have no expectations but the hope is still very much alive and who knows, perhaps that perfect and innocent little spirit denied entry yesterday is waiting patiently in the wings to return when the circ_mstances are right :) I wish everyone here the best for their pregnancies and hope those who come here that are troubled can find some measure of comfort for their losses or conversely, some measure of appreciation for what they are blessed to be receiving :)

Hello Everyone. I had a misscarrage 6months ago and found out last suday i was pregnant, can't say how pregnant as from a period chart i should be 9wks but from scan on thursday 4wks, I have another scan 05/05. I have been spotting pink brown since wednesday night very very slightly but completely paranoid about it. Reading these have helped. My misscarrage did start with a wipe of fresh bright red blood but within an hour i was bleeding as a period. I'm so sorry to Rachel, you seem to have a lovely view over it all. I am 8 weeks pregnant and have also had brown spotting and bleeding on and off for the last 6 weeks. I've had three bloodtests and two ultrasounds so far and everything is showing as normal. As far as I can gather, it seems that spotting and bleeding during pregnancy is quite common and not always a sign of miscarriage (even though it is very scary!). All the very best to you all.

Rachel-your last entry was beautiful. I believe in your words whole heartedly. We are similar as I have a 7 1/2 yr old. I am 6wks pregnant & have had two previous miscarriages. I just spotted some brown thick "blood" when I went to the bathroom an hour ago & ran to this website. I had s_x last night for the first time since being pregnant because I've been so scared due to previous miscarriages. I haven't been to a Dr. yet as I am a singer traveling on the road in an rv across the country until July with my husband & son (currently in Florida) but need to find one right away. I was here to update myself and let everyone know that the cramping has seized. We are 16 weeks pg and saw the Dr today again. We will determine the s_x of baby on May 24th. I am saddened by your loss Rachael.....I remember speaking with you and wish you the most. There are some losses always as I have also experienced them too! Again I am sorry that you go through this! If interested I did post a pic of my babies first ultra sound at 7 weeks 6 days. I been spotting for about 5 days supposed to have period today 4/27 but I an not...took prego test it came out negative yesterday...could I be pregnant if I am spotting...was on depo also but got off in dec and barely had a period last month...I am concerned please help
