Clicking Popping Sound From Womb

I am pregnant for the third time and I have heard these noises with every pregnancy (with the possible exception of this one). I can tell you it is definitely not your baby's joints. It is a very clear, crisp cracking noise with no a__sociated sensation. It most often occurs with movement of the baby and is experienced in different spots. It is probably related to the amniotic fluid and sac. This time I have had a few times where I have actually felt something but this is always when the baby kicks the large intestine and the accompaning noise is more muffled meaning its probably an area of gas. But that is differently entirely than the popping noise most women seem to be describing. I heard it most myself during the first pregnancy, less during the second, and maybe once or twice this time. Thankfully! It drives me crazy!

I should rephrase that. For my kids its obviously not a joint problem. They are both fine. There are probably multiple causes of sounds from the womb during pregnancy :) I guess what has always baffled me is how clear the noise is. You would think if it were inside it would be more muffled and that you would feel something...

@KH
The noise that I hear sounds pretty much like the noise everyone else is hearing. It sounds like the same sound you would hear if you crack your knuckles or if you move your arm a certain way and the joint at your elbow pops. The noise is never a__sociated with "pain," but I do feel something in the area where the noise comes from. It is never in the same spot (the location varies depending on how my body is positioned and how the baby's weight is positioned). Oh, my due date is 7/11 (Thank GOD!!)

I hear this noise too. I can't pin-point where exactly it is in the womb. I can't feel anything, and it's always a__socitated with the baby's movements. I asked my ob/gyn today, and she had no idea. I figured it had something to do with the amniotic fluid, or my ligaments. I like that answer better than my baby's joints cracking!

I have been having this about 3-4 days a week, about 3-4 times each of those days for the past month. Can you think of any reason this would happen besides preg? I have not had a BFP yet, though have been ttc for 6 months. AF for the past 4 or so has been really short and light, especially the last two (and last one was really pink, not red).

Becky, I'm confused by your post. You're hearing the clicking sound, but aren't sure you're pregnant?

Yep! So I am wondering if anything else could cause a sound like that. Is it just MY bones/joints making noise? It's more poppy than clicky... but is definitely coming from my midsection. Always on the left hand side, and it's not always when I am moving, usually not actually, and is not gas (at least not any that I've ever had :-P) I've only heard of this from ppl who are fairly far along though, so it was confusing me.

this is kinda funny, after this post being up for weeks you still have not seen a doctor about this? **giggles**

Jessie, who are you referring to?

Becky and kh, I just thought it was funny and odd that two women had the same thing one possibly pregnant and other pregnant and no one has seen a doctor to see exactly what it could be. Please don’t bash me, I just thought it was cute and giggled for the preggy one and odd for the not preggy one.

Jessie, I wouldn't bash you for that.... How would you know that I didn't go to the dr. though. I did and of course she has no idea what it is. She said maybe it was amniotic fluid. I also e mailed her the link to this thread so that she knows others are experiencing it and so she doesn't think I'm crazy :) I also sent her some other stuff I found on the net. So yes, I have had it checked out but it's still a mystery. :)

I found another theory at OBGYN.net, that it could be the baby sucking her thumb. There wasn't any more info on there, but the girl who responded to the question said that her mom had had these clicking noises while she was pregnant with her, and after she was born they concluded that it was her thumb-sucking because she had a large calous on her thumb.

I heard it three times, only since the baby has been large. I am now overdue. I thought it might be my pelvis but I only ever heard it when I was sitting down and not moving (but the baby is).

It sounds like we all have two things in common - it's always when the baby is moving, and we're all pretty far along. I'm over 37 weeks.

Angie,
yes, mine is always when the baby has a strong movement and a I'm always sitting or laying down. This started around 28 weeks for me. I'm so glad my hubby can hear it b/c the dr. was starting to make me feel like I was crazy.......
