Karalyn, Im not trying to be rude but do some research--there are NO air pockets in the womb. The amniotic fluid apears to be less becaue the baby is larger and instead of floating around in the fluid, there are actually "pockets" of fluid around the baby. Also, the baby drinks the amiotic fluid as well as the body absorbs it. I know this for a fact becaeu my first child had gastroschis and I actually had to get fluid injected into my uterus because her bowls kept absorbing it up. And besides, how would air pockets cause a decrease in fluid? Are you sugesting its evaporating? If the fluid is leaking, you have a rubtured sack.

I think the decrease in fluid causes air pockets not the other way around. My OBGYN told me that fluid decreases as you get closer to birth. So as the fluid decreases, there has to be spaces there I'd a__sume. I'm going to believe my OBGYN about the fluid decrease, sorry.

I'VE HEARD THIS NOISE A FEW TIMES, EVERY DAY, FROM ABOUT THE 22ND WEEK, AND IN MY LAST PREGNANCY TOO (BABY WAS NORMAL, HEARD NO NOISE AFTER FROM BABY). I WAS TOLD IT'S MOST LIKELY TRAPPED GAS BUBBLES MOVING AROUND IN THE AMNIOTIC FLUID.

It is the fetus joints clicking/popping. I experienced the noise in my first pregnancy and she was born with a hip that easily popped in and out. No problem, she's ok. I am ecperiencing this in my third pregnancy 14 years later and expect this one to be born with the same issue. For those who answered that it is the baby hitting an organ or ligaments stretching to make room for the baby, this is incorrect- you would feel something if it had to do with you. The fetus moves and joints are small, new, and brittle, thats why sometimes you hear clicking.

I hear the clicking/popping frequently, and ran it by my midwife. She said unless she had experienced before with one of her 5 pregnancies, she'd have thought I was nuts. Turned out to be her son's hip, as well, with no lasting issues. I'm due soon, and can't wait to make sure all is well...can't help but be concerned.

me too... I think i'm more baffled that it is something and i'm not going mad haha but I have also heard it from the same place, in the top right of my tummy and the only way I could describe it was like a bone cracking... I am determined to find an explaination to what this is now, and will let you all know if and when i do... XD

Ive had this clicking. Its always when the baby is moving and is normally by my hips or bladder area when the baby gets into a wierd posistion then i get a click. it first happened around 29 weeks and i have been hearing it more frequently as the pregnancy progresses. Yesterday (im 33 weeks now) i heard it several times in several hours and ended up calling the midwives. who of course were no help and were speaking to me like it was all in my head. Now i have found so many woman experiencing the same "clicking" i think that maybe someone should look into it. i mean, i think its a little rediculous that the midwifes had no idea what i was on about and were tryin to say maybe only i could hear it, and no one else had ever mentioned anything like this to them before. It appears to be pretty unheard of by them, but not when u come online. wierd. i thought they were suppose to know everytying about pregnancy =S i still havnt got a clue what it is, only that it is happenening more frequently & that other woman have had the same. but midwives know nothing about it. =] x

I've been told that this noise is the amniotic sac. It is made up of two layers, the amnion and the chorion. They are not fused together, and occasionally when they slip past each other they make a clicking/popping/snapping sound. Think of it as two pieces of plastic wrap stuck together for a moment, then popping as they try to slide by.

i heard the clicking sound tonight about five times at least. I notice it when i'm quietly working on something and it scared me. i'm about 35-36 weeks now but I have been hearing it before, maybe up to a month ago. It happens when the fetus moves... first while it had 'hiccups'... then when it was just moving... not a specific area of the womb, because sometimes I hear it from the bottom (near pelvis) and sometimes to the side. The clicks are different too. The ones at the bottom are more distinct, it scares me like maybe it's the little one's bones cracking? And the click I heard on the side was as if, it was swishing water with its hands and the waves made a click, if that makes any sense! Whew! now to get over the panic attack... its nice to know i'm not alone. otherwise the pregnancy has been going quite normally
