Not trying to be judgemental here but what the hell is wrong with you people. Do what you want when you are caring for yourself but an unborn baby? Immature and Selfish that is all I can say! 9 months out of your life staying clean for the chance of a healthy baby is not too much to ask. I would never take the chance of hurting my baby whether studies prove it is harmful or not.

Then you should probably move into a giant bubble and start growing your own food.

My friend just had a baby. She was smoking weed until she was 6 1/2 months pregnant when she stopped smoking weed and 7 months when she had the baby.Im sure it was the cause of her premature labor and maybe you should get help.

TO S:
I'm not sure you know what you are talking about, what "they" say is that smoking weed can make a man impotent which means it kills their sperm....which means it could lessen their chance of having a child.

I am 19, 2 months pregnant, and have smoked weed for about 5 years. My mom smoked weed while she was pregnant with both me and my brother. He is 15 now. Neither of us have any type of disability, learning or otherwise and I was 3rd in my high school cla__s. I believe that as long as you take excellent care of yourself, marijuana will NOT hurt the baby. I am living proof that the c___p about "problems arrise later because of use" is...well...major bs. Did anyone ever stop to think that problems later in life are probably caused by something else---NOT smoking a natural herb during pregnancy...BTW, the smaller birthweights and lengths...the difference was so insignificant that it was statistically irrelevant. Please visit drweil.com to hear it from an expert.

It has been proven you obviously do have some problems if you are dumb enough to smoke weed while pregnant and I feel sorry for you and your unborn baby. You are trash that is what you are! Why on earth would you jeapordize the health of your baby? I have several friends who have smoked for years and they also have killed some brain cells and can't function anymore. Shame on you.

Question: Is it safe to smoke marijuana during pregnancy?
Answer: No. Smoking marijuana during pregnancy may affect your baby's growth and nervous system. Studies have shown that children who were exposed to marijuana during pregnancy sometimes have problems focusing their attention and difficulty in problem-solving. Children of heavy pot users may have disturbances in their short-term memory, concentration, and judgment. (There's no evidence so far, however, that marijuana use during pregnancy causes attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).
What's more, there's no way to know if the pot you're smoking has been laced with other drugs (such as PCP) or contaminated with pesticides, which puts your baby at even higher risk. And using marijuana increases the risk that your baby will have birth defects if you're also drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes.
If you smoked pot before you realized you were pregnant, don't panic. The chance that your baby has been affected is very small. Still, it's important to be honest with your pract_tioner about your previous use of pot and other recreational drugs. She may want to run some extra tests to be sure your baby is developing normally.

Ok, i know it wasn't 'right' but with my first child i smoked pot up until my last trimester because i didn't know any better. First of all, i would like to say, no he doesn't have any attention problems at three years old, he has advanced problem solving skills and a longer attention span than most children his age. He developed his speech and learned to walk at a very early age, and has never held a crayon like a toddler would, he holds it like he knows how to write (it's really cute), and learned to count to 10 before he was two. We are actually putting him into school early because of his advances. As someone who USED to smoke pot on a regular basis, yes, you can tell if your pot has been laced with other drugs, because different drugs effect you differently, and you can just tell, and although it's uncommon for someone to do that, it does still happen. Children born to healthy mothers also show signs of ADD or ADHD, as well as other attention problems, so it is very hard to tell what, if anything, causes this. I am in no way saying that smoking pot while pregnant is GOOD for you, but i would like to state that i am NOT trash, my child is not retarded, and i really despise the fact that others are so quick to react to something they obviously know nothing about. Medical sites are going to tell you it's bad because they HAVE to, and pro-marijuana sites will tell you it's good because they WANT to. I would also like to state that if it's ok to smoke pot before you get pregnant, or know your pregnant, wouldn't it be the same as smoking during as well because it can take as long as 8 weeks for the metabolites to leave your system as they store themselves in the fat cells and would still be circulating through your system even after a month of not smoking.
