Well I came to this site looking for answers about pregnancy and perhaps a buddy to talk to during pregnancy, but needless to say I can see that probably wont happen here. It's just like the rest of the country, the rights vs. the lefts with no room for compramise.
Doing anything purposefully to harm your child is wrong. But this is no black and white issue. Everyone who smokes during pregnancy isnt some pot crazed demon with no regards for hte safety of their child. I have a close friend of the family who had causes of nausea so severe that she was honestly better off smoking everyone once in awhile to keep herself from providing the healthy environment that her child needed. Guess what? Her kid was born healthy and no one was there to throw her in the slammer.
Maybe because she didnt abuse it, perhaps because health practioners are more concerned with the alcoholics/crack and herione addicted mothers. Whatever the case is, I believe that there are shades of grey in every area of life. No one does anything perfectly as there are plenty of other harmful things that mothers do that have nothing to do with a little thc. Grow up

I am 6 1/2 months pregnant and smoke mj and i have heard that it can harm the baby or it couldn't. there is really nothing proven about it being bad but low birth weight and premature babies. I have a healthy baby right now according to my drs.

Right vs. left. This is crazy. I just can't understand why anyone would chance smoking pot while pregnant. I just don't get it? Regardless of what studies show it is a drug and I just don't understand why you would do it.

i was given some info from my doctor when i was pregnant with my daught about smoking pot, i hadnt done it before but after being hospitalized for over 2mths with a central line catheter and almost 6wks at home, 2wks on steroids, and also with feeding tubes down my throat because i could even keep water down long enough for it to turn warm. i went thru hell, but after reading this pamplet i was given, it clearly said that marji has never been proven to any birth defects, the only problem that it may cause is the baby first bowel moments my be green in color. the learning problem they claim children have these days are nothing more then caused from the school sys itself they would rather dope a kid up with ritalin or adderall and not have to deal with that fact that all children learn differently as oppose to given them the little extra attention they may need.

All I know is that with my daughter I was so sick I just kept loosing weight. At four months I had lost 25 lbs and my Dr. told me that smoking a little pot to ease my stomach would not hurt the baby. My daughter is a very smart and healthy girl. I have a few friends who also smoked pot while pg. and their children are also very healthy and smart. My Dr. also told me that smoking 1 joint a day was better than smoking 1 ciggerett a day. Think about that. While I NEVER smoked that much, I don't think a little will hurt now and then. But like all things, even good things, too much isn't good. If your just getting stoned all day every day I can't imagine that it is doing anything any good. Not only that, but what is it doing to you?

Be careful.... where I am from, the hospital does Drug/Alcohol tests. If either is positive, the State Child services will be the one taking your child home, not you. I have never been a user and would never think to do that while pregnant. Enough can happen to your baby when you dont have any bad habits why would you want to take a chance.. I would say think about your choice, but sounds like its a little late. And who ever told you it wont harm the baby needs a few pointers....

My friend smoked weed all through her pregnancy and early into her labour. This slowed the labour down ie baby was out of it ,and so it lasted for about 48 hours!! and was very very painful.Thank fully the baby had no medical difficulties but had to with drawal symptoms NOT VERY PRETTY.

48 hrs of labor after the water broke? totally unlikely around 24hrs they start talking c section because your baby is at risk and so are you. save the scare tactics!

I didn't see her write anything about the water breaking. Infact, you can actually deliver your baby with the sac and waters still intact, but it's unlikely the hospital will allow it. If you are positive for group b strep, they will not break your waters unless you are ready to deliver. So it is entirely possible this woman was in labour for 48hrs.

it really depends on how much you do it, my best friend did it everynight and her baby has really bad breathing problems he turns blue sometimes and has to be on a breathing machine at night it has the same effects as smoking cigs
