mj isnt addictive what kind of withdrawal symptoms? and to the woman who was in labor for 48 hrs, were you smoking pot too?

m - August 8

all you pot smokers do is whine. "I couldnt eat" "I couldnt stop vomiting" whine whine whine. Guess what, its not about you. It's about your baby. And if you couldnt it, you should have discussed it with your doctor and they would have found another alternative than drugs. Would you let your baby smoke a joint at 8 months? And if you say no, then you're a hypocrite. Because if you say no...babies cant smoke week at 8 months, then why do you expose your unborn babies to it. And if you say yes...well then you seriously have issues and will continue to be selfish and never think about your child's welfare. Go whine to people who cant have babies and see what they say. Would love to hear you whine when they take your baby away because the tests came up positive for drugs...

I threw up every day for 3 months and didn't stop until my 22nd week into pregnancy. My doctor prescribed a prescription medication to help with the morning sickness and never mentioned smoking pot. It would never even have occured to me to smoke an illegal substance to get over morning sickness. I must say I am disgusted.

so... - August 8

you haven't heard of medical marijuana?

to the last post - August 8

There are a lot of medicines that are not safe for pregnancy. Just cos its medical mj does nto make it safe.

i agree, but mj isnt one of them.

I think, instead of listening to the stories of others, it would probably behoove you to do some reading of your own. What went fine in one pregnancy could kill YOUR baby. Don't leave your decision up to someone else's experience. This is what "What to Expect When You're Expecting" says about marijuana use during pregnancy: Continued use of marijuana now that you’ve found out your pregnant could lead the following: - Inadequate weight gain - You’re more likely to suffer Hypermesis (severe and chronic vomiting) - Dangerously rapid labor - Prolonged or arrested labor - Cesarean Section - A show of meconium in the aminotic sac – a sign of fetal distress - And a baby that may need resuscitation after delivery - Damaged genes – possibly resulting in birth defects or cancer in offspring - It could lead to attention problems and other fetal alcohol syndrome-like characteristics - Tremors, visual abnormalities, withdrawal-like crying during the newborn period - Marijuana has been shown to adversely affect placental function and the fetal endocrine system – POTENTIALLY INTERFERING WITH THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION of PREGNANCY. I, like you, have been told by friends that smoking while pregnant will not harm my baby (I'm 11wks). But reading has made me smarter then that. It's true that the full consequences of marijuana are not completely doc_mented. But they are tested. And with all the risks listed above, why would you even want to risk it? No one says you have to quit entirely. Just stop while you're pregant. Every day in pregnancy is important for your baby's growth. The sooner you quit the better. From one soon-to-be-mother to another, please quit. If not for you, for your baby's health and future.

good post but I would say that the effects of mj are well doc_mented but not well tested.

Yes I have heard of uses of pot for cancer patients and people who are suffering from pain. What I haven't heard is it being suggested to pregnant women. This is about the most ridiculous thing I have heard all day.

m - August 8

Ok that was a lame statement about mj for medical purposes. What doctor would still be able to practice after writing a script for mj for morning sickness. You know, Advil works for my muscle pains, but now that I'm pregnant I'm only taking Tylenol. Beware of what you put in your body...you're now sharing it.

Well if you havent heard of MJ being suggested to pregnant women than you have now because you have here with women sharing of their experiences. Crystal wanted to know info on smoking MJ as she was curious. I dont think she intended on asking for a list of people bagging eachother for their choices. If MJ is so dangerous and has been proven then were is all the info, whereas all you would find is a bunch of theses forums with a list of people bagging other people.

RE: Heather - August 9

This is what you (Heather) found in a book This is what "What to Expect When You're Expecting" says about marijuana use during pregnancy: Continued use of marijuana now that you’ve found out your pregnant could lead the following. Notice it says CONTINUED use of mj and also COULD lead the following.

Mj is infact used for medical purposes and would be legilised if the government were not worrying about all the money they would be losing on tobacco. And eventually it will be legalised like it has been in other places.

Tuesday - August 9

Please don't compare marijuana to tobacco. It does not do you any good. Tobacco is legal and is very harmful to a fetus. Just bc something is legal that does not mean it is safe for your fetus!!

m - August 9

you know cocaine used to be used for medical purposes as well as opium, hmm they're illegal now too. look I dont care if people do drugs, as long as they dont expose their children to their hobbies. I would love to pop certian OTC drugs for pains or aches but I hate to risk hurting my unborn child. The only real fact is NO ONE really knows what it could do. Sure women have healthy kids while smoking ciggys, drinking alcohol, or even MJ, but what about the percentage of babies that aren't healthy. Take a mother who may eat healthy the entire pregnancy and still have an unhealthy child....NO ONE knows what could happen so why up your chances on such a risk. It's called respect for you unborn child, and that is a FACT.

those cancer patients are also suffereing from nausea, which mj alleviates. M no one has ever died from an overdose of mj. the same can not be said of the rightly illegal drugs you list.
