Btw: This is my FAVORITE dressing. I love it. I would love a good recipe that is homemade if anyone knows of one! I always ask for it in restaurants (that way i can't read the label) ; )

Here's what I've heard...ranch is fine(store bought) , but caesar is not because of raw egg AND the ground up anchovies that contain too much mercury for the fetus. It can cause birth defects. It doesn't always though, because I had a friend that had it often and her baby is perfectly fine.

I'm in the same boat. I love ranch dressing so I e-mailed Hidden Valley's customer service to find out about of their Original Ranch is pasteurized. IT IS NOT!!!! I thought it might be, but sadly, I was wrong.
When in doubt - if it doesn't specifically say it's pasteurized, I would avoid it.
Below is Hidden Valley's response to my inquiry:
