Please please please girls. We don't need any name calling or bashing of other people. We all have our own opinions and they all very. I dont' believe in fighting over this stuff. I would like to make peace and just continue this thread for those of us who need support to quit smoking. Now...let's just get back to that issue and put all the bad manners and hatefulness aside. Thank you

Non smoker - September 9

Boy this thread goes on forever. All I can say is I used to smoke and when I found out I was pregnant with my first son I quit the minute I found out. I smoked about a pack a day and it was not hard to quit because I knew it could hurt my baby. I have had friends who smoked while pregnant and their children are fine and I also have had friends who smoked during pregnancy whose children have problems such as asthma and other breathing issues. I can go on and on. I just think it is plain and simple you can get help to quit if you want to quit. Anyone can do anything they put their mind to. If you don't quit for the sake of your child it must not be important to you. I hate hearing all these sob stories please just quit smoking already for the sake of your baby it is immature and selfish. 9 months isn't a long time.

help - September 9

i don't think i'm being selfish, it's more like weak. I have been smoking since i was 11 years old, i can't remember NOT smoking. I have tried the smokers hotline, but when i talked to a women with the anti-smoking att_tude telling me how selfish i am, i got extreamly discouraged, and quit calling. Selfish would be NOT trying to quit, flaunting it in peoples faces, and being down right proud of what i'm doing.. which i am not. I take extra vitamin C as my doctor requested to help flush my system and ward off things like colds that smokers are usually more prone to. I am doing everything i can and know how to do to be as healthy as possible, including trying to quit, but for some people that's just not as simple as quitting cold turkey. I would also like to add, the original question asked for SUPPORT, not opinions, besides, who cares what you THINK? Don't act like you care, or like you know me, or what is best for me, HELP me, judging isn't HELP, it's just being an a___l retentive b!tch and making you feel better about yourself.. that isn't helping me quit.

Quit Judging! - September 9

I had a friend who had two abortions simply because she's too lazy for birth control b__w up at another friend for only cutting down to half a pack of cigarettes. It's funny how some can attack others without seeing their own errors in judgement. I wish all of you luck.

I just looked online for that book you were talking about. It has fabulous reviews. I am going out to buy it tomorrow. Praying that it will help and I can be smoke free! What a great feeling that would be. I know that I am also scared to quit, it has been such a big part of me for such a long time that it is scary giving it up. People used to ask me why I didn't try and I always said I didn't want to. Well to tell you the truth I still don't want to but I will for my baby. I know that is going to be hard to hear for a lot of those woman who will hate me now for saying it. But I am proud of myself for making the effort and fessing up to my problem. I will let you all know how it is going and if the book really helps. wish me luck and keep me in your prayers please. I am going off into a new journey and need all the support I can get. God bless you.

Throw them away and don't buy any more. I know it is an addiction but many people do it.

Mean people here. Press the poor b___ton

Oh, Please - September 9

Push the poor taste b___ton? Smokers are not allowed to seek advice and support? Grow up, "Whoa". All your life others will do things you don't approve of and you can't silence them all. Remember, the ones who disapprove got nasty first. Hmm, what other threads will you try to have removed, lol?!?!

mt - September 11

hi everyone i just want to say thanks, i am 35 weeks prego and a non smoker in fact i hate it, the smell, my husband is a smoker and he said as soon as i got prego he would quit well 35 weeks later he still hasnt i have been really hard on him, saying if he really cared he would quit. I never new and probably will never know how hard it is to quit, i just wanted to tell you guys that you opened my eyes a little if you guys being prego and still cant cut the habit, and i know we all love our babies the same, just because you smoke doesnt mean you dont care or love your child as much as a non smoker. You guys have a lot of motivation to quit and still cant, i never thought it could be that hard, but what do i know im a non smoker? But anyways thank you im going to try and lay off my husband for smoking. And to all those mean/ weird people lay off your not helping anyone and your just plain scary. You cant tell a mom that she doesnt love her child, because if she is on here trying to get help and support she obviously loves her child a lot. She also has a lot of guts because of people like you, she is forced to deal with things alone. So go by the golden rule if you dont have anything nice to say DONT SAY IT AT ALL!!!!! One more thing i want to congratulate all you who have quit or cut down as much as you could you are at least trying to be healthy for your baby!!

mama-one - September 12

I used to smoke. Then I got pregnant, and stopped. Like that. I smoked for 7 years, 1/2 pack a day. Bottom line on this one.. just quit lighting up. Stop smoking. Yes, it is hard. Do it anyway. You have a choice... your wants and "needs", or that of your innocent, unborn child. Choose your CHILD. That is what being a PARENT is all about. Peace to you.

sad about cigs - September 12

mama-one that's super and you should be proud, but there is a difference between that and someone who has had the nasty addiction for 17 years and two packs a day. it gets worse, it really does. to those who don't smoke, never start.

sad about cigs - September 12

i've only managed to cut down to a little less than half the normal amount so far. i was not supposed to be able to conceive and we used protection anyhow. i never would have planned a baby while smoking. never. i should be happy, but i'm sad. all because of the cigarettes.

Cathy - September 12

Good Monday morning ladies. I went out and bought Allen Carr's book The EasyWay to stop smoking. It has really opened my eyes, I am only half way through it and it has really hit home. He tells of the reasons we smoke and the reasons we don't quit. Which is basically fear of quitting because it would be like losing our friends. I had stated before that I am afraid to quit and to have that written in a book made me feel better and that I am not alone. He was a 5 pack a day smoker and found the "easyway" to stop smoking. You are to smoke as usualy while you read the book, and actually half way into it, it is hard to keep smoking. But if he says it works, then I will do what he says. He has a 90% success rate. He doesn't tell us the dangers of smoking which we all know anyways, and he concludes that those no n smokers who think they are helping by telling you the cancer risks and all the other risks are NOT helping us. We get scared aagain or more defient and it just makes us what to light another. I reccomend this book to anyone that wants to quit. I am looking forward to finishing it. When I am done I plan to pa__s it on to anyone who needs it. If you need it let me know, if you cannot afford to buy your own I will send it to you. Good luck to all of you and God Bless you.
