Times A Woman Can Get Pregnant

Hi,
I have been researching natural family planning and keep coming up with contradictions. I normally use condoms with my husband (I do not trust the safety of the Pill for long term usage), which works fine but of course he'd prefer s_x without (but not enough of a preference to risk an unplanned pregnancy!).
My question is this: If a woman has a fairly regular cycle (I am always 25-27 days between one period starting and the next beginning), is it safe to have unprotected s_x after, say, day 22? I know ovulation can vary but occurs around the middle of the cycle, and I know that it is impossible to get pregnant more than 3 days after ovulation, so it seems like this would be very safe. However, I keep finding online websites that say you can basically somehow get pregnant anytime at all.
My husband and I would really like to have a few days a month we could have unprotected, risk free s_x, and some information I have seen makes it look like this would be fine, but again, some information seems contradictory and definitely it wouldn't be worth the risk if it is indeed a risk to do so.
Does anyone know for sure if it would be possible to get pregnant in the scenario I've described?
Thanks so much!

Your logic is correct. It falls apart if stress or sickness delays your cycle. You can add a layer of safety by learning your signs of ovulation - fertile mucus, high libido, cervix high and open (hard to find), and maybe an ovulation cramp. There is also the BBT temperature charting method. Enjoy!

The best way to know when to know when you are ovulating is to do a manual inspection of your cervial mucous. During ovulation, your cervical mucous become clearish and sticky, loosing the white milky discharge. Once you find out when you ovulate, I would not have unprotected s_x at least 4 days before that, because sperm can live up to 3-4 days.
