Ok so my daughter loves the veggies and only likes applesauce for fruits..and hates rice, oatmeal, and barley cereal. I have tried mixing the applesauce with it but she doesn't take it after 3-4 bites. But if I go get a jar of peas she will eat them in a matter of minutes. Everyone says she needs the cereal though but does she really if I could just feed her veggies instead??

My daughter was the same way. I found that she really liked the infant cereal that already had formula added into it, Just add hot water. and it had a better texture, smell and flavor. Some had bananas, apples and mixed berries. Give that a try. It was made by Gerber and it was in a can that looked like a formula can. It stored better than the boxed cereal too because it has a lid. Good Luck!

You know what Amanda, I'm in the same boat. I've also started feeding my baby solids not to long ago and he to can eat almost a whole jar of peas but doesn't like straight fruits. I have though been able to mix them in cereal and he'll eat it a little better but I don't think cereal is his favorite either. I wonder why that is? I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you but just wanted to let you know that your not alone :) I'm not sure either what I should be giving him, how often, if meals replace bottles, when do you introduce meats, etc, etc, etc. I have his 6 month physical coming up and I'm seeing another doc because last time I wasn't told to much. Well see how it goes and what happens.

Amy, thank you I will look for those. Those sound like something that might just be worth a try. Liz, sorry about your eating "problems" too, but at the same time I am glad to hear someone else is in the same boat. I don't know much about the meals either. I know when she eats just a bottle she eats 8 oz so we give her half a jar of a veg. and half a jar of applesauce then a 4oz bottle. Might seem like a lot but she would eat more. :) But as far as meals and all that I don't know either. If you happen to find out anything interesting let me know, as my daughter doesn't have her 6 month appt for another month.

Amy...I checked into them however I got to thinking. They have formula in them, my daughter is allergic to regular formula she has to have soy, so I am not sure if they would be ok for her. Any ideas?

It dosen't seem like too much too me!! My son has such a huge appet_te. At supper he eats half a jar sweet potatoes(his absolute favorite) half a cup oatmeal mixed with formula...then 8 ounces of formula!! He is only 6 months! Very tall guy with a hollow leg. Anyway, I am not too sure about meals either. now, he gets 1/4 cup oatmeal for breakfast then 8oz formula half jar squash for lunch with 8oz bottle another bottle big supper then a bottle(sometimes 2) during the night. He also does not like fruit. I wish there was a sample meal plan available according to likes/dislikes age and weight.

Desiree, I too wish there were plans. She eats an 8 oz bottle first thing then a few hours later I try to feed her some cereal with applesauce and a 4-6oz bottle, then an 8 oz then half jar of veg and half jar of fruit with 4oz then one to two more 6-8 oz bottles. Then she sleeps the rest of then night. She absolutely loves all veggies except squash. It's hard to know what to give them and what not, but I guess if they weren't hungry they wouldn't eat it. My daughter has a hollow leg as well, she is 5 months Monday and is 20lbs and 27 inches, so she definitely grows from it. :) So what's the trick to get her to eat her oatmeal as well as your son??
