Developing A Nervous Disposition

I've noticed over the past couple of weeks that Nadya is becoming increasingly jumpy. She jumps out of her skin at the slightest little noise now. It even happened when I opened an envelope next to her. Last night DH was playing with her and blew a raspberry which startled her and made her cry for ages. The gentlest of hand claps will make her blink, flinch and look worried. She never used to be like this. I'm really worried that it's something I'm doing wrong, that's making her afraid of everything. :(

Oh no! That definitely stinks, but I wouldn't really worry about it. At least her hearing is pretty keen! I bet she is just becoming more aware of her surroundings. I startled Billy with a raspberry to his stomach one night and he seriously had the worst crying jag. I have also freaked him out just making a funny noise with my mouth. And when I clap, he flinches and blinks! Maybe they'll toughen up soon!

Lucas jumps at all sort of noises, and a few times they have startled him to tears. But it is actually starting to get better with him. Some babies are just more sensitive, sometimes I call it dramaticLOL!!! My little guy tends to be a drama king.

My daughter is the same way. She's 4 1/2 months old now and startles very easily, which didn't use to happen. Any kind of noise that she's not use to and she'll fling her arms out and scream. And if she can't see me when I cough or sneeze it will scare her also. Like KrisD said, they're probably just becoming more aware of their surroundings.

OK. So she is probably normal then. :) Good!

Sophia does that too. The only loud noise that doesn't wake her up or startle her is Valerie.

Lissi, Aja is starting to cry at songs that make him sad... He has a "Little People" schoolbus and it plays the song, "If your happy and you know it...". He crys everytime he hears the song whistled. Very out of character for him. He never jumped at noises so I am not sure what is going on with Princess Nadya. Poor darling:(

lol....I remember one day I kissed Asjani's cheek so hard it made her cry....one time I sneezed in the car and she started crying...it all depends on her mood...when she's sleepy anything will annoy her.

There's an article in the November issue of Parents mag. that you might want to look at; it's about a little girl who has "sensory integration dysfunction"...if you can find it, you should read the article, and see if maybe it applies?
