I'm not due until May 2005. But I wasn't getting any answers in the pregnancy area. So for all of you with babies, did anyone have a Doula there? And would you reccommend it?

I didn't have one, but my cousin did...comparing my birth experience to hers, I wish I'd had one, and I'm actually planning on studying to become one. My understanding is that a doula is basically an experienced friend, who can answer questions without the formality or rigidity of a doctor; where a doctor is more concerned with your physical well-being, a doula is concerned with your overall well-being, emotional as well as physical.

I HIGHLY recommend a doula.... go to dona.org to get a referral in your area.... good luck!

Yes, I had a doula with the birth of my second son 2 weeks ago..it was amazing, the experience the birth..I will never forget it!
