How exactly can you tell if your child has acid reflux? (That is bf you see a doctor) My son spits up a lot on some days. Some days he does not spit up at all. He does not seem to be in any pain when he spits up but a lot comes up. I swear, sometimes I feel like I am feeding him just that he could dirty his clothes. I burp him and try to keep him in an upright position but sometimes that does not help. Any suggestions. I am 2 seconds from calling his doctor but I am not even sure how it gets diagnosed from the doctor either.

Hi, TC. My son has severe reflux. I posted some information on my website for my family, but you should check it out: http://www.piczo.com/rebeccah0326?g=18850585&cr=1 (take out any dashes, the ='s are supposed to be there). You are right to keep him in an upright position, our doctor says 45 degrees. When putting him down, try putting him on his RIGHT side as this also can help keep his milk down. Try adding some cereal to his milk. Thicker milk makes it harder to spit up. Also encourage him to suck on a pacifier as this helps to keep the esophagus in motion, pushing anything in the esophagus back into the stomach. If he does in fact have reflux, his doctor may prescribe some zantac for him. Hope this helps!
