TERRIBLE Story

My sister's co worker (a cop) was sleeping in bed with his 9 month old daugther. He woke up to find her dead in between the mattress and the headboard. Can you even imagine that? Obviously they are devastated and it was their only child. This makes me so scared to sleep with my baby. I haven't since he was about 4 weeks old. Wow, I'm floored - I just heard this last night and I still can't stop thinking about it :-(

There was a story on the news earlier this year about a woman who fell asleep on the sofa with her baby, and he got wegded between her and the back, suffocated and died. It can happen, its such a tragedy. You just gotta be so careful.

I have a friend who baby died the same way Tahlia described. Her baby suffocated between her and the couch. Most peditricans advice agaisnt sharing sleep space with your baby b/c of risk of suffocated. Very sad but true.

I really wish you wouldn't have shared this story. It made me sick.

what? not everything is about you. she was just sharing it to help other think before they sleep with their child. I'm so glad she did!!!

My midwife drummed it into me never to co-sleep. There's been an increase in infant deaths because of this lately. I am guilty of falling asleep with my daughter a couple of times, but I won't do it anymore. Just can't take that chance. It would kill me if I lost her.

I would never put my child in bed with me until they got older. This is a perfect example of why not to do it. My husband would take a nap with our daughter on his chest but I was always awake to moniter it. You have to be careful. The minute I brought my daughter home she slept in her crib in her own room. Never did she sleep with us until about the last year. When dad had to work out of town or if she has had a bad dream. But is is almost 5 now.
