Teething Vaccinations And Cold

My baby just had his first set of vaccinations at 10 weeks of age. He has been under the weather now for five days since then. He also has a stuffed up nose that he had before the vaccinations were done. To top it off he seems to have started teething. Can teething cause stomach upset? Oh yeah, plus he doesn't sleep at night for more than one to two hours at a time. His total sleeping time in a 24 hour period is no more than 8 hours or so. The doctor faults my lack of staying on a set schedule with him everynight. I've tried, but it has not worked. Any advice on one of all of these issues. I'm very frustrated and worried about him.

I wouldn't think that your baby is beginning to get teeth at such a young age, baby's will generally begin teething from about 4-5 months of age onwards. (my daugher is 9 mths and hasn't got a tooth yet). I wouldn't be too worried about him not sleeping through the night yet, every baby is different and will eventually get themselves into a routine of sleep. Give him a warm bath, good feed and settle him in a quiet room when you notice tha he is beginning to get tired, it may take up to a few months before he settles into a normal bedtime routine, I wouldn't listen to what the doctor is saying at this point, particularly if he is implying that you are not doing something right. The stuffy nose could be related to a number of things. If the stuffiness continues, I would suggest taking him to your local baby clinic or a paediatrician.

For his stuffy nose you may try to clear his nose with the nasal aspirator and saline drops, they are safe for babies.
