My daughter has never been a very good napper but the last couple of weeks she has barely slept during the day at all! She sleeps okay at night now though she doesn't have a real schedule down yet. I really don't feel like I have a clue what I'm doing... She will get up anywhere between 7am am 9am and she used to nap around 10:30am but this morning she only slept for 20mins. For her afternoon nap she fell asleep around 4pm and was awake by 4:30pm. She's been lying there for 40mins drifting off and then waking up before she's fully asleep. It must be so frustrating for her and I know it's frustrating for me!! She hates the car, the swing and the bouncy chair... I tried holding her to keep her asleep and that doesn't work either!

I had the same problem until I started lying down with my baby and b___stfed him to sleep. I also fall asleep and we nap for 45 minutes together. So, yes, he sleeps in my bed with pillows on each side. He cannot roll over yet.

my 3 mos old does this every once in a while. she goes a few days where she hardly sleeps and some days where she sleeps all day. i let her do what her body needs to do (during the day... at night i always MAKE her go back to sleep).
we do however have a schedule which helps a lot. around the same time every day we go through a nap time routine so she KNOWS it's time to go to bed now. sometimes she sleep more... sometimes less.
it seems to me the important thing is that they arn't relying on you to rock/feed them to sleep.
but it seems your baby has no problem putting herself to sleep in her crib! good job!!!
i think independace ( just enough... especially when it comes to sleeping) is a good thing. in my opinion anyway.
good luck... call you pediatrician if she doesn't go back to her normal napping schedule. my pediatrician always has good advice.

Thank you E and c. What you said about your daughter doing the same thing every so often c? That's what my Peanut was doing! She went to sleep at 4pm yesterday and got up at 8am!! She woke for her usual meals at 1am and 4am and just went right back to sleep. I was completely amazed and a little freaked out at first. Kept poking her every five minutes to make sure she wasn't getting sick. I'm trying to get her schedule down but the little sucker keeps beating me to bed. If I think I should start getting her ready for bed at 9pm, she asleep by 8pm. Okay, I try for 8pm, she asleep by 7pm. Pretty soon she gonna be going to bed at noon!! lol Thanks again for the help.

I dont know what anyone else has experienced, but as far as trying to put an infant on a sleeping shedule is impossible!!! ... I kind of just roll with the punches...
