Hi monica, I know from lots of other posts that your son was colicky and has reflux too. I think your son is just a little older then mine. Lucas will be 3 months on this Thursday, the 17th. I was wondering when you saw great improvements with him and how the reflux is doing? Lucas still has a lot of sleeping issues but the reflux seems to be under control. The colic is slowly getting better, but sometimes it is 2 steps forward, 2 steps back. Just wondering if you had any insights or helpful hints on what helped your son the most, how he sleeps and if the colic really does get that much better at a certain point. Thank You!!!

hi Rachael mommy2lucas. yes caleb is 3 1/2 months. I am not sure if your Ped. has told you this but Caleb from the time he was about 4 weeks started getting cereal in some of his bottles. That really helped him....as a matter of fact I dont even think he has reflux anymore. The colic is a lot better he does have his bad days. i bought him the dr. brown bottles and those have helped him a lot. It really does get better, it use to be bad. But it seems that as soon as he turned 3 months he started getting so much better. He sleeps really good now that i do dream feeding. I put him to bed at 8 then at 11 i feed him 7 oz of formula (good start ) with cereal in it. This keeps him full until 9 the next morning and its stays in his tummy. No more spitting up.Is your son on any medication? how is his sleep? is he b___stfed or bottle fed? I hope I helped a little.

Hi monica, thanks. Lucas has been getting cereal in his bottles since 5 weeks, he takes zantac. He is also is bottle fed. We had to switch him to alimentum because he was allergic to soy. Lucas takes a bottle right before bed at about 9:30 pm, eats around 2am and is good until 6:30 or 7am. He is just a very restless sleeper that wakes and cries frequently. He has always been like that. It is difficult to get him to take naps during the day and has just started being able to sleep a few hours in his crib if I am lucky. He sleeps with me at night. I work, so I need to get sleep. Just the past month or so he finally started liking his swing and his bouncy chair, but there are still many days and evenings where we need to play our vaccuum tape to get him to calm down. It is getting better, it is just slow going, I guess. Just wanted to talk to someone in the same boat! Thanks!! It seems like we have a few good days or nights and then all hell breaks loose for another few days, and the cycle keeps repeating itself. I cringe when we have good days because I am anticipating horrible evenings to comeLOL!!

Was it you that posted a while back thay reflux peeks at 4 - 6 months? BTW did you ever swaddle Lucas? That was how I got Caleb to sleep for long hours. Caleb is abad napper he takes 20 minute naps through out the day and I cant get anything done. I too dread those bad days... :(

I was told reflux peaks at 3-4 months and then usually just goes away completely. That is what his pediatric gastro said. Swaddling never worked for me. My little houdini could get out of the tightest swaddle. I did not know about the miracle blanket until recently. Swaddling makes Lucas mad. He likes his hands too much, especially now that he has the coordination to keep them in his mouth. I think he is starting to teeth too. I don't get anything done either with the way he catnaps. Maybe that is a characteristic for kids who have colic and/or reflux. I always just figure mine is difficult because he is mine. Like mother like son LOL!!!

I also use Dr Browns bottles, they are pretty awesome. Sometimes he does not burp just because he didn't get any extra air. I started those when he was 5 weeks as well as the zantac, cereal and alimentum. He is very ga__sy though. That seems to distress him often. Mylicon does him no good.

GO AWAY! I SWEAR IT MAY SOUND LIKE I'M BEING MEAN TO HER, BUT GO LOOK AT THE TEEN SITE AND SEE ALL THE CRAP SHE POSTS THERE. SHE IS A BIG LIAR. SHE HAD AN ABORTION AT 6 MONTHS PREGNANT BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T WANT TO BE CALLED A SLUT AT SCHOOL AND SHE TOLD A GIRL THAT IS PREGNANT THEY SHOULD GET TOGETHER AND KILL THEMSELVES! DONT LISTEN TO HER SHE'S SICK IN THE HEAD!

I tried what I a__sume is gripe water. I got it at Walmart called Tummysoother. It has chamomile, ginger and fennel in it. Sometimes it seems like it helps, sometimes not. It's so hard to tell with my crazy kid! I love him to pieces, there is just no rhyme or reason to him a lot of time.
