Just curious, but in the UK, I keep seeing women walking around with long hair, tiny little headscarves, long skirts and sensible shoes. Are they mormons? I always want to ask them when I see them, but I'm too shy.

Lissi, they may be the missionaries, but I'm not sure. Do they have nametags? Are there always two of them? We dress the same as everyone else, so unless they are missionaries you couldn't pick them out of a crowd. The elders(or men on missions) wear suits and ties all the time. They would have nametags as well.

I don't know where the headscarves would come in though. Hmm...

I was just wondering. It is nice to know and talk to people of the same faith sometimes. I am from Georgia.

No, they don't have name tags. They usually travell around as a group of women, and are sometimes accompanied by one man. The women, even the children all dress the same way. It's not like a uniform or anything, because they are normal clothes, but always the same style. Hmmm.....I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet one day and ask them. I'm worried I'll offend them by singling them out though. I've been curious about them for years!

nope they aren't LDS then. oh and fyi, we don't practice polygamy anymore. That ended a long time ago.

The last post wasn't me. Yes, I read that you don't practice polygamy now. I'm soooooo curious as to who these guys are. I know a lot about Catholics and Protestants, but nothing about mormons really, so I was just hoping that if they are mormons, you could clear that up for me. I guess they aren't then. Maybe Quakers? Any experts on religion here?

Lissi...possibly the ladies you see wearing headscarves and modest dresses are Muslims.

Oh no, they're definitely not muslims. We have loads of them here. These are teeny tiny headscarves. They're always white too. Never seen a black or asian headscarfer. Hmmm.....It's puzzling.

You know I have seen them around here as well. (the ones with the little headscarves) I thought they were some form of amish or something. They are very friendly but never seem to be dressed properly for cold weather. I am way to shy to ask them what religion that they are.

I will! :) I'm pretty sure they're christians of some kind. Next time I see some, I'll ask!

Aha! Somebody else knows what I'm talking about! Have you ever seen one walking on their own? I only ever see groups of them.
