My daughter is 17 months old and she has a vocabulary of about 40 words. You'd think one of them would be momma, wouldn't you? I can't figure it out. She says other "m" words but she will only call me (and her father) dada. IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS!!! If people ask her where momma is, she'll look or point to me, but if they ask her to say momma, she'll give everyone this sly little grin and yell DADA! She has not said it even once to me. She will use it referring to herself when she's holding her dolly, but that's it. I am so sad. :(

My daughter calls us both by our first names. I've tried to get her to stop, even to the extent of referring to my husband as "daddy", but she is really stubborn about it.

I feel you kate,... I am sad too, my one year old won't say momma either! However she does refer to her dada, and she barely sees him!!!!

I know how you feel - my son is 21 months old this week and only in the last month has he started saying "Mom" - he's been saying 'Daddy' since he was less than a year old! Also, he can't say "Mommy", it's only "Mom" (at this point I'll take anything) and he had to concentrate very hard to get both M's in there when he finally started!
