Is cradle cap something that needs to be looked at by her doc? What are some "cures" for it? I have heard rubbing baby oil will help but I was just wondering what you all would do? Is there any thing else it could be? It is dry dandruff looking flakes. Please help

Stephanie...lol. it looks like our babies are going through the same things at the same times...not only does my baby have baby acne, but she has cradle cap as well!!! Poor things...Cradle cap is usually diagnosed from seeing yellow scaly flakes either in the scalp, the eyebrows, and behind the ears...I took my daughter (6 weeks today!) to the hospital Friday and they said to put baby oil on her scalp and brush it to loosen up the flakes and then wash it with a baby shampoo and gently scrub her scalp with a baby brush. I was told to do this daily. For her face, aquaphor seems to be working better than ANYTHING! The baby acne isn't that bad anymore...it seems to be gradually clearing up...thank heavens! my baby weighs 10lbs 14oz now and she was 8lbs 2oz at birth...She's growing up fast!

I've also heard to put baby oil on the scalp, let it sit overnight and wash off in the morning. Apparently it comes right off. I tried it myself but my daughter has such thick hair you can't see the cradle cap until I start to try to get rid of it. Then there's all these icky looking flakes stuck in her hair and I can't get the baby oil out!! Looks gross. I just leave it alone now since nobody can see it unless they're looking for it.
