Hello ladies, I've posted a question about bottles/nipples in the general infant care section- any input here? Also, just wanted to spread my anxiety about hand washing and germs... I have heard of so many virus and pnemonia cases.... Good reason to be a germaphobe nazi!!! If anyone is sick don't let them anywhere near your lo's!!!!! Wash hands, wash hands, wash hands!!! And, well... good luck!

Hi girls!
Tara- I hope your lo is doing better. Are they sure it's not from the shot? That just sucks. We just got over the flu.
micsmms- I am a borderline germaphobe, have been for a few years now. Can't touch a public door handle or salt shaker, crazy huh? I'm washing constantly & can't wait for winter to be over. About the bottles, I hear your frustration. I always said it's freakin rocket science to make a bottle that doesn't leak. I have the Born Free (no BPA) but my lo has such a weak suck I still can't use them. They seem nice and leak free- I'm hoping my ds gets with the program soon so I can use them. It's also a good idea to loosen the top while feeding (not too loose of course) which will lessen the sucking your lo is required to do in order to get the formula. Born free has 3 nipples and the stage 2 seems best, not too much and not too little.
How is everyone else?
Jess- hope you're doing ok.
Time to feed Luke, ttyl Colleen

Hey girls! Tara - I really hope your lo is feeling better! Maybe it was a bad reaction from the shots? My lo just had his shots..he was a trooper. He was just REALLY tired that day and the next. I did give him a little infant tylenol (per doc's orders) because he seemed to have a really low fever and he was cranky (seemed in pain) right at first. micsimms - I posted ont eh bottle forum about the ones I use. I wouldn't call myself a germaphobe, but I think every parents worries about their los getting sick this time of year. And, hand washing id like the number one way to prevent that (well, if you can't avoid people all together). How is everyone else doing? We've been trying to get Brady to sleep in his crib. He's doing ok. Last night, he slept from 9:30 until 1:00, then got up aain at 4:00, then 5:20, then 6:45ish....so, not too bad. Oh, and at his doc's appt., he was weighed - he weighs 8lbs 10oz at exactly 2 months old...the 10th percentile. He's little, but the doc said he looks healthy, so I'm happy with that. Take care girls.

Hey Ladies, do you mind if I join you? I, along with Kimmer23 and Austynsmommy was originally a January mommy, but my dd Makayla came early. Crazy how quickly time flies; she's almost 10 weeks. She just had her two month check-up on Friday, and is weighing in at 10lbs (she was 5lbs 7oz at birth). She's been pretty cranky since she got her shots, but I'm getting nervous that she's beginning to cut her first tooth (yikes)! From birth, her teeth have been really noticeable right under her gums, but hopefully this doesn't mean that they'll come too early. Has anyone heard of a baby getting teeth this early on? My ds didn't get his first teeth until he was closer to 8 months old. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well, and that you're all feeling better from the flu and so on.

Well Aj had his 2 month check up today. He now weigh's 11 pounds. I can't believe how much he weigh's now. He was only 5 pounds at birth. He also had his shot's. I just about cried. I hate sitting there watching them hurt your baby and there's nothing you can do. Well I need to go give the kids there baths.

Hey girls. WOW, babee and ausynsmommy - your little ones really have grown. Brady is still little, but I'm ok with that. I was looking at pics of when he was born, and he already looks huge comparatively... they do grow up fast. Oh, and he slept so well last night too! He slept from 9:30-4:20 in his crib! Then he after I fed him, he slept until 6:30ish. Not too bad. Oh, and austynsmomy - I hated watching the shots too, but I kept reminding myself that it was to help him in the long run. How is everyone else doing? I just reread my last post...geesh there are a lot of typos...I need to reread my posts before submitting them :)

Hi girls! Wow, what the heck happened to the site??? Babeedust, of course you are welcome to join. Sounds like your lo is doing well. Did you give Tylenol before the shots? I think I will do that when Luke goes in next week.
Amanda- how many kids do you have and how old are they? I agree about the shots, I think it hurts me more than them. My lo is on an adjusted schedule since he was 7 weeks premature so he is 4 months and due for his 2 month shots next week. Not looking forward to it. I think they give too many at once.
Kimmer- that's wonderful that Brady is sleeping so well. My lo is sleeping pretty good now, about 9 pm til 5:30 am. Thank God, it's rough getting up earlier than that now that I'm back to work.
What's up with everyone else? Hope everyone is doing well. For those feeding formula, how many ounces does your lo take how often? Just trying to get an idea where other babe's are. It's hard for me to know cuz Luke was so early where he should be.

yeah, what did happen to this site???? Weird. I'm doing well...just tired. The past 3 days or so, Brady has been getting up quite a bit in the middle of the night. He falls asleep around around 9:30, then gets up at 1:00, then 3:00ish, then 4:30, then 5:45ish. So, any suggestions on how to get him to sleep a little longer at a time? I'm going back to work in a couple of weeks, so I'm not going to be able to handle that schedule...I barely fall back a sleep and he's up again...he's basically catnapping after the first 3-4 hour stretch. Also, any of you struggling to lose the baby weight? I'm starting to work out a little harder, but the weight seems pretty stubborn. I'm just trying to be patient. So, how is everyone? Colleen - good luck at the doc next week. I'm sure your lo will be a trooper too. I don't formula feed, so I can't help you with your ?. But, I'd like to know too, since I'm starting to supplement, and I'm sure I will more after I go back to work. TTYL.

Not too sure if I like the look of the new site; I've found it really difficult to navigate. Anyway, Kimmer I'm sorry to hear that Brady has been getting up that often. I have days when I feel utterly exhausted, and Makayla generally sleeps a good 6 hour stretch, so I can only imagine how tired you are. Clindholm, we feed her between 4 and 5 ounces of formula before bed, so I'm sure that helps with the length of time that she sleeps. How long are your mat leaves? I'm in Canada, and starting in 2001 or 2002, the mat leaves are now a year. Before then, it used to be 6 months I believe. I can't imagine having the energy to go back to work at this point; you girls are really strong!!! Anyway, have a good night ladies!

Wow took me a while to find this forum! Work is fine, Im actually glad to be back and the kids are adjusting well to the schedule. Poor baby Brooke had a double ear infection a week and a half ago. She screamed non stop for 4 days. It took a visit to the ER, the pediatrician, and an ENT to finally get her diagnosed. Toay was the first day she was off the antibiotics and she had a huge screaming fit, so Im so nervous her ears are still bothering her!! The only other thing I can think of is maybe teeth???? She is very drooly and constantly munches on her hand. I feel her gums and can feel some bumps but nothign poking through. She is only 3 1/2 months so its still early. She has been sleeping terribly. Im exhausting, my marriage is falling apart... Im so stresed Im pretty sure I need medication.

Hey girls!
Kimmer, sorry to hear your lo is not sleeping well. The only thing I do is (no matter what time he last ate) I give him another feeding at about 10pm to "top him off" so that he goes til about 5 am. Of course Luke is 4 months now and Brady is younger so it may not help. Have you heard of the Dream Feed"? I don't know if you're pumping or supplementing, but this may help.
Babeedust- I live in US, CT and our Maternity leave is only 6 weeks! Barberic, I say. Anyway, I had to fight to get 8 weeks for a c-section and with my acculmulated vacation time, it was about 11 weeks. I really wish i lived in Canada. How old is Makayla now?
Jess- good to see you back, I was starting to worry. I'm glad work is going well. I am so sorry to hear that dh is acting up again. Is it time to pack his bags? He has just been a beast to you throughout your pregnancy too. If you need meds, I say give it a try. I'm on Cymbalta now which seems to be helping. I really didn't want to take anything but now I'm glad I gave it a try. We are having some serious financial issues right now and it's giving me bad anxiety. Maybe it can help you at least feel a little bit better. I know getting your marriage straightened out is the only thing that will really make it better, but maybe meds can help you get through until you can come to some type of resolution.
Hello to all the other ladies, hope everyone is doing well. Back to work for me. Colleen

Hi girls, Hope everyone is doing well.
Jess- sorry to hear things aren't going so well. Hang in there. I would try anything to help feel better. I was really struggling right after having this one. I felt like I was stressed out around the clock, even in my sleep.
Thank goodness he is now sleeping through the night 8:30 to 7 except last night. He had a tummy ache.
He eats 6-8 ounces every 3-4 hours and at night he sleeps about 10 hours without a bottle. He is on a soy formula (Isomill)
I am out of work till 4/27 but I wouldn't have taken that much time if I knew the economy would be so bad. We are struggling now. It's an unpaid leave for most of the time. I should move to Canada!!!
Jeni - How far apart are your little ones I want another one maybe start trying in the summer. I am 30 and have 2, an 11 yo and 12 week old. It took a while to get pregnant this time. I was very young the first time 18!
Colleen, i hate the vaccines, we had the rotavirus one and wound up with rotavirus,, just not as bad as without the vaccine. Apparently you are supposed to be extra cautious changing diapers after oral vaccines/dealing with saliva. Well, i cant stop kissing him!!! He's so cute. (Weighing in at 16 lbs.., I can't stand carrying him in the carseat..TOO HEAVY. )
Hope everyone is doing well!!!
I'd love to hear about your lo milestones!! What are your babies doing right now?

Colleen - how were the shots? I'm sure you little one was a trooper. How are you? jess - I'm so sorry that you are going through a hard time with your marriage. Hang in there. And, maybe meds. would help. I've been on them before and they did help me through a rough time. jeni - I'm glad you came over here. 6 weeks is way too short. I think 3 months is too short too...I have to go back in a week and a half...I'm absolutely dreading it. It'll be a huge adjustment, and I don't think I'll be able to keep up pumping enought to feed him. I'm ok with giving him more formula...I just like b___stfeeding too. And, he's getting to be so much fun...smiling, cooing, etc. No fair! Things are going well with us. We figured out a sleeping arrangement that seems to be working too. He sleeps in the crib until he wakes up at 2:00ish, and then he's in the co-sleeper thing we bought for the bed the rest of teh night. He'll sleep that way. How is everyone doing???
