I'm on a diet. I'm only eating 1200 calories a day, it doesn't matter what I eat, but I stop when I get to 1200. I started two weeks ago and I've lost 10 lbs. I did the same thing last year before I got pregnant and lost 80 lbs in four months, but I was really heavy to start with, which is probably why I lost so much so fast. Usually what I eat to keep the calories down to 1200 is: oatmeal for breakfast, soup or a baked potato for lunch, grilled chicken b___st, vegetables, and mashed potatoes or pasta for dinner. At first it's a lot of trouble counting calories, but after a little while you do it almost automatically.

counting calories is how I lost 50 lbs after my first son. JBEAR do you have any snacks in between and are you b___st feeding?

I'm not b___stfeeding...actually, I've heard that you shouldn't try a really strict diet when you b___stfeed, because any toxins in your body are stored in fat cells, and are released when you diet. I'm not sure how true it is, it's just something I've read a few places. About snacks, I'll usually have a granola bar or a serving of corn chex (no milk, I eat it like chips) or an apple. One day a week is a "day off" from the diet, and I bought a book that has calories for all the fast food places so that if I take the kids to McDonalds or somewhere I can still keep track of my calories for that meal. This is a hard time of year to diet, though, at least for me...Halloween cupcakes and cookies, Thanksgiving pies, Christmas cheesecake...

I'm starting to look for a b___stfeeding friendly diet, too...I gained 75 pounds during my pregnancy, and have only lost 30...winter's closing in, and I have NO clothes to wear. Since the baby's rapidly outgrowing her clothes, too, we don't have the $$ to buy 2 new wardrobes...lol...so how many calories should a b___stfeeding mama eat?

Remember to avoid whites. No white rice, potatoes, flours. You will get the most out of your diet if you can do that. A really yummy/healthy snack is hummus and you can make your own and tweek the ingredients so its not too fattening. Also, when made at home, it tastes fresh. Use - I can chickpeas (drained), squeeze half small lemon, salt, olive oil, tahini (go light on tahini for diet reasons), and garlic if you like it. Blend in a food processor and eat with whole wheat pita (and a pickle!!).
