Wow, the more i hear the more differences i find. Not just on here either, even between all my girlfriends. I guess everyone has their own way. One thing i have heard from ALOT of people though is that cornstarch is the best. Alot of people have told me that the zinc cream has never worked on their baby, but it was all i ever used (when i needed to) and it worked fine for us. Thanks for the input ladies!

i have never used anything for my kids, and they never really ever had diaper rashes. i found just letting them air out really well when changing them helped. i've got boys too. on the odd occasion they were slightly red i used zinc ointment, in a very thin layer, not caked on. my husband's dad was a nurse and his granddad was a doctor, and they always told me that too much of that stuff can actually make the rash worse.

I don't use anything at all. My daughter Quinn is almost seven months and she's only had one rash waaaaay (lol) back when she was a week or two old. She got a prescription for that one but we haven't needed it since. I'm pretty stunned when it comes to remembering to change her diaper so I think she must have a pretty tough tushie.

we don't use diaper rash ointment - it never worked. we use lansinoh lanolin (you can find it in the b___stfeeding area at walmart). it's intended for sore nipples but we've found it heals pretty much anything. it's the purest lanolin in the world and the company boasts that. anyway, anytime baby girl has a pink bottom, we goop her up with lansinoh and it's gone by the next diaper change. a friend used it on his son after he sat in a hot poopy diaper all day in the summer time (his wife forgot to change him while they were at an amus____nt park) and his bottom was bright red with blisters. it healed him in just 2 days - AFTER they tried desitin and a&d and neither helped a bit.

lansinoh lanolin - forgot to mention that it is made from sheep oil, like all lanolin, so if you're allergic to wool then don't use lansinoh - it will make you (or your allergic kid) itch.
