My 4 mth old looks healthy but how come he doesn't want to eat.Everytime I tried to feed him he will suck for about 3 minutes and stop. He is more interested in playing with his lips/sucking his fingers. He still get around 6 wet diapers/day. Last time at the 4 mth check up he just gained 50% not as much as before which was 95%. The dr said not to worry, but I am worry, any suggestion how to make him eat more?

i hear when they get that age they are just distracted with anything and everything. i think if he's hungry he'll eat for sure, i don't think he would starve just to play with things. maybe you can just let him play and when you see he's getting bored with it then offer him food. i wouldn't worry about it if your pediatrician said not to worry, but of course you are a mother and you will worry. hope it gets better.

just posted about this a few days ago. I had the same issue as you and took my son to the doctors. All is well and there is nothing wrong with him. I agree with pp.Dont worry as long as he is gaining weight your fine and if your doctor said not to worry you should be OK.

My guy is four months as well. He has just started to do the same thing. He is so easily distracted, it is frustrating. However as baby gets older they can drink more in a shorter length of time. Baby's growth slows as well as they get older. If the dr isn't concerned I wouldn't worry he sounds like he's got enough wet diapers.

Sometimes they do that when they start teething. My daughter will have days when she's not hungry and days when she does nothing but eat, too. As long as he's wetting enough diapers, you shouldn't worry.
