hey lisa, there is two leslies here!! lol..its amazing your baby is sleeping so much but is this maybe the reason that you got mat_tis? maybe b/c you don't b___stfeed for those many hrs?... I have a clogged duct and I think is b/c I wasnt breasfeeding like for 5 hrs at the beggining. (also if you are taking antibiotics, you are at a higher risk for mast_tis). and I know how you feel about the nipples mine hurt too but I don't think as much as yours..what helped for me was putting lanisoh (sp) and then going outside without a bra or shirt so they could dry and get a little sun and it actually helped..if you want to try it, I hope it works

I have bought some cream today called Kamillosan, and I can notice the difference already. It is brilliant :-)

Hey everybody I'm so happy to see everyone back online and doing well. I am b___st and bottle feeding and it's going good for me. When my baby is latched on the b___st it seem like he's taking in to much b/c he has to release and then latch on again it leaks out the side of his mouth. It scares me b/c it seem like he's going to choke or something. And I am so mad b/c my baby has only been here 2 1/2 wks and he's already coughing, sneezing and congested any suggestions on what to give him. I really don't want to take him to the doctor and wait all those long hours just to hear we can't do much for him. But if push come to shove I will take him. everytime he cough makes me want to cry. I'm angry b/c he's sick. I have 2 older boys who are coughing all over the d__n place and they are p__sing me off cause I have to remind them to cover their cough. I think that everytime they cough I'm going to spray some lysol in the air. They get kind of upset with me b/c i won't let them near their little brother.

Tonia, my 2 week old son is very congested, too, and I have read that this is normal the first month or so (my doctor confirms this). We are running the vaporizer at night to help him out. So far, so good....

Have you heard of something called olbis oil Tonia? Put a bit on a tissue under his sheet in his cot. Only a tiny bit mind. Its what I used on my daughter when she was only a few weeks old.

hi, lesley didnt realise there were too of you called leslie, how confusing. im taking antibiotics for the mast_tis, should i be waking jasmin up in thenight to feed her then? i just wish each feed didnt take so long, a women at the b___stfeeding support feeds her son for 20 mins ever 3-4 hours and hes putting on lots of weight, jasmin wants to feed for over an hour then only mamnages an hour in between in the day, my left nipple is totally bleeding scaby and i have to hand express today and feed off other side only,,, aghhh will it ever be pain free, shes 9 days old now

Lisa, if you can try and get an ointment called Kamillosan. It is so lovely. If not try asking your doctor if he can prescribe you with something. I got told the other day to try using cabbage leaves. I have no idea if it works but a few people said it was good. Suppose it is worth a try eh? Keep at the feeding though, in a few days things should of calmed down then in a couple of weeks you will be perfectly fine :-) I remember with my daughter I almost give up about 5 times but in the end I'm glad i didn't.

hey lisa, I will always put 2 little stars on my name..so it isn't so confusing.. anyway do you have a b___st pump? is there any way you can get one? since I have been having some problems with bf I am pumping all day and i give him the b___st at night..it is working good..before this the baby was always on the b___st at least every 30 min.. and he never took naps then I found out that he was never full and b/c he was never full we wasn't able to take a nice long nap. I was also having problem with my milk supply and by pumping I can tell if I am getting better or how much I am giving the baby ( I wasnt' giving him enought). my other problem was also sore nipples and by pumping it gave them a little brake. I think you should be waking up the baby at night...in the hospital I had to wake my baby up bc he would go like 4 hrs w/o waking up...and now 4 weeks later we still wake him up sometimes..

thanks both of you, the midwife keeps giving me lansinoh, she just told me to put_t on real thick, also i make jasmin wait half hour when she wanted a feed because the midwife was comming to help feed, and she went on perfect straight away, midwife said sometimes it can be good to mke sure theyre really hungry they latch on better, cabbage leaves sounds primative, woth a try if the cream doesnt work

oh yeh, i have a manual pump but it doesnt seem to work well, is short light pumps better or strong long ones?

I have never been able to express milk with a manual, electric or by hand. That cream I am using is amazing. 4 days and I'm almost healed fully.I wish I knew about it sooner.

Thanks to Kim and Lesley for the advice. His Dad is like so don't want to give him anything as far as medicines go. He wants to buy a vaporizer. I've been using the suction bulb to get the cold out his nose what a horrible way of doing things.

morning everyone, im finding b___stfeeding a bit less painfull now, thankgoodness and am learning to have her feed accross tummy(norma position) as ive only been able to do rugby style, nipples still painfull but lasinoh is helping, might get some kamilosan to try though sounds good, im trying internet food shopping for first time, figred it makes sence to have it deliverd. anyone else get a pressure feeling in the v____a if they walk around too much??? and the outer area feel brused??/
